Default Already driving your C7? Some basic questions...

How is the brake dust issue? I hate my stock padlets on my C6 Z06 calipers. horrible brake dust issue on black wheels.

How do you like the capless gas filling? I love the one on my Explorer.
I wonder how close GM is to the original Ford design.

Have you washed your car yet? Any water drips from the mirrors when you shut the door?

Have you rotated your outside mirrors back and forth? Do they feel like the design has been improved to prevent the 'dangling mirror syndrome'?

Do the wipers cover a sizable area of the windshield when turned on?

How about cabin noise...is tire noise intrusive?

Brake dust is not big deal. But, I have chrome wheels. I suspect black wheels will be a problem.
No gas cap is nice.
Biggest washing issue or me is that when you raise the back hatch, many water streams run down the inside of the hatch.
No mirror issues so far.
Wipers cover a lot of the window. I have not driven in the rain yet.
There is tire noise. Slightly less than my C6.

No water drips from taillights. If water did drip from mirrors I didn't notice it on car, seems like mirrors ar father out than my C6 so if they did drip it missed side of C7
Different gas set up than fords, a lot nicer, looks like a big rubber donut around the gas hole
My Z51 shows a lot of brake dust on my chrome wheels
I had a C6 vert and now C7 coupe and I find it very quiet on the Hwy, very little tire noise.

Would you say the noise cancellation system is a winner?

Anybody take a 2or 3 hour drive yet?

I drove 500 miles home from dealer in 3-4 rain storms. Between brake dust, what was there for the car sitting a month and the rain the inside of the wheels were very dirty. I had to wash them 5-6 times to get every thing clean. Wash the wheel move up 6 inches and wash again.

The good news just normal driving the brake dust is no worse than my c6.

clean the wheels with Dawn/alcohol and get some a polymer sealant on them and the hose will take off 90% of the dust:
meguires next 2.0
Collinite 845
Blackfire wet diasmond
Nu finish or Rejex (same stuff)

2 coats 8 hours apart...been doing it for years..

Water collects at the bottom of the back glass. I think the noise level is about the same as the C6. Windshield wipers cover very good. Filled up a a couple of different stations on the ride home from Bowling green and one overflowed. Haven't noticed any brake dust...chrome wheels. Haven't tried the mirrors yet.

Dawn/alcohol on brand new wheels? I am by no means a detail expert but this sounds pretty harsh and extreme even for really dirty wheels.

then don't do it.....

but both are detailer's staples to get surface completely free of oils and contaminants......polymers need to cross link on the virgin surface to bond..

I do not notice the noise cancellation having any impact on the sound. But, ask a thousand people how to adjust a sound system and you will get a thousand different answers.

I would disagree with this. I have the painted wheels and the brake dust is pretty bad. I'm going to try Glen's suggestion next weekend.

No problems at this point. Give it another week or two. Need to get familiar with the car.

That condition goes way back to the C5 coupe...it's a real pain. I would have thought that a design fix would exist 2 generations later. I do remember some sort of TSB GM had to correct it with different weatherstripping that redirects the water to the side...anyone remember this?

Interesting...never thought it could be improved. But, on the Explorer sometimes I forget to press the door a second time to close it flush with the car body. On the C7 is a second press needed, or does it close flush initially?

I noticed drip trail preferences as well from the fuel filler door and down from both sideview mirrors. Good places to double check after a wash (or to blow dry).

This is my first time playing with a removable roof. My previous car was a fixed roof C5. I found that one time I was able to put the roof panel on and latch it with a corner bit of the weatherstripping sticking out of the seam incorrectly. I needed to reseat and relatch the roof. Watch out for this.

Well, if you've been doing it for years and it hasn't worked yet maybe you should try something else.
Sorry, just couldn't resist.

I haven't used Armor All products on my cars since the 80's, but the Armor All Wheel Protectant spray is amazing for minimizing brake dust. Clean the wheels with Sonax wheel cleaner, dry them and then apply the AA Wheel Protectant.
