Aren't there pictures of this thing in the snow during testing?

There are pictures of the C7 mules testing in snow but not sure if on stock tires although I would think so. We all know they are not ideal for snow because of the nature of the tread pattern but, once again, careful people do it. This was just the parking lot at Arizona Snow Bowl Ski Resort, the road itself was clear, BUT the temp was obviously below that recommended for the summer ONLY Goodyears. Yesterday I had the C7 tires put on my C6: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...zps-today.html
The biggest problem is that you need run flats since there is no spare and no place for one (plus the jack, tire iron, etc) and so far I can't find any run flat winter tires that will fit the Z51 wheel.
I've got a set of HREs on order so I want to use the stock Z51 wheel for my winter tire, I don't want to buy what would essentially be a third set of wheels.
Even the all season tires in this size don't appear to be run flats. Someone had better come out with something soon because winter is coming and even without snow the temps will still be well below the limit before too long.
I don't think C6's were supposed to be driven in the cold either. A little after I got my C6, it was a sunny, 34 degree, dry day in December so I took the Vette out. Punched it on the 1-2 and the rear end breaks lose easily. If you just stay calm and easy on the gas, you'll be fine. They tires just are not sticky below 40 so you drive sensible.
So after we spend 60+k on a car chevy then expects to go buy new tires within a few months of purchasing the car? That is asinine.
Is there an option to get a different tire?
Not months for me - days. I should get my car within a week or so, and winter has already started here with a bang. I wish they would offer the Continental ExtremeContact DWS or equivalent.

You are right. It almost seems like a conspiracy that there are no run flat all-season or winter tires in the Z51 sizes.

EXACT same issue with C6, as you point out. New folks need to search in C6 Forum for threads that have addressed this issue since the beginning of Summer (READ PERFORMANCE) run flat OEM tires on new Corvettes in 2005.
I believe at least one of the online tire companies is selling the all-season/winter tires for the C7 now. An extra set of tires I've found is always a good thing.

I was told by one of the sales guys at tirerack that there is no run flat option yet for a winter tire in that size. He suggested getting an emergency inflator tank thingy and using non run flat tires (Pirelli Sotozoro).
Anyone have any experience with these things and how well they work (or don't work)?
Gee, can you tell I've never had a car without a spare before?
I know it's not supposed to be an Issue for people buying a 65K Car but;
Seems like having a complete extra set of wheels, with Winter Tires, is going to cost a small fortune.
The Tires alone will run 1,100-1,400, and unless someone sells their Z-51 Wheels on here, could only imagine what a set of wheels will run

^ Folks want 'supercar' performance from the new Corvette. That requires use of the latest technology Extreme Performance Summer Tires - just like Ferrari & Lamborghini use - even the Camaro ZL1 and Shelby GT500 use. No 'All Season Tire' will provide the grip and performance specs customers want . . . . .
Neither are most all of these types of cars winter weather driven.
My dealer told me that the tires on the c7 should not be driven under 40 degrees. Is this true?
Summer/performance tires should not be used below 40 degrees, especially when installed on vehicles with high HP and TQ. The compound is not flexible at low temps.
Using them in snow is not recommended for the same reason plus the tread pattern is not designed for snow conditions.

Put Continental DWS on my C6 2007 2 yearS ago , great tires ..awaiting my 07 Convertable, when original tires wear out doing
same again , the Dog (from Massachusetts) to much snow & sleet weather changes every 30 mins

There is ZERO chance a C7 is in snow with the PSS tires. I can tell you from experience you can barely move the car on level pavement with snow on the ground. Summer performance tires become hockey pucks in freezing temps and put even a thin layer of snow on the ground and it is just ridiculously dangerous. It isn't the tread pattern that is the issue (although it doesn't help) it is the tread compound that is the main issue.
Cold temps? Be VERY careful because if there is frost on the road it will get dicey REAL quick.
