I think the writer is full of crap. The problem GM has with this car with Millenials, is that Millenials are not into cars, period. Comparisons with 911's also don't hold water, because the Corvette out sells the 911, Boxster and Cayman all put together, at least in the USA. The writer needs to consider the sales numbers for the Camaro AND the Corvette together....this is the Alfred Sloan strategy - get the youth into a Chevy with a Camaro, and eventually, when they can afford it, they'll end up in a 'Vette. it's worked like a charm since 1969.

Oh no! Time to ask for my deposit back!
Seriously this guy hasn't got a clue what makes the Corvette tick.
My only issue that I semi agree with is Chevy's lack of vision to date and not expand the corvette brand beyond one 2 seat sports car.

I would not let it worry you. We all know that GM is trying to target a younger group with the C7. But that group is not the teenagers or the young 20 something. Even Porsche does not attract those.
The younger generation is just not into cars as we and other generations were. But I would not worry about Corvette going away anytime soon. As long as the design engineers can keep come up with great designs as in the C5 then the C6 and now the C7 they will continue to sell. After all for those in my age bracket that grew up with the Corvette since the late 50's and early sixties, so it will be with the group of buyers that are in the 40's-50's that are buying their first or second Corvette now with the C7, They will be the ones buying the C8's and 9's.

The average age for a new Ferrari purchase is 55. I don't think Ferrari is too worried their car doesn't appeal to a younger crowd.
Let the 20-30 something's buy their hot hatchbacks and GTR's. That's what they're for.

Melting Slicks
Time will tell. I hope it sells better than it did for the last 5 years or there will never be a C8 and that is sad for me after driving vettes since I was 17. My 3 kids were raised around vettes their entire life and they range from 38 to 44 and like them but just are not inspired to buy one. My youngest daughter who is 38 just picked up her new Mercedes CLA last Monday and my son who is 44 placed his order for a 2014 Mercedes E sedan that will sticker for $62k.
I thought this statement in the article resonated most with me:
"The new Vette's styling is dramatic, but I think it's going to look dated pretty quickly. And I think it's safe to say that it's not a look that will appeal to the sweet spot of today's luxury-car demographic. "

Why is it surprising that it's older guys who buy a $65k two seat car.....
There is also a demographic bubble (baby boomers) that is driving the average to increase
If GM wants to sell vettes to millennials they should make an electric version

We hear the same BS about Cadillac. That's why GM closed them down years ago.
Oh wait.......
