Default Stingray or Z28?

OK OK my flame suit is on. I realize this is a corvette forum and not the camaro forum so I may get a biased answer.

I am looking at either getting a new Z28 when they come out or a Stingray. Most of me wants the stingray but now that I have small children I have been eyeballing the camaro for its backseat. It is so much more fun to enjoy the car with your children then just my wife and I. The other reasoning is that they are supposedly only building 1500 cars (not sure if this is per year or total) vs. the 30,000 corvettes they will produce per year. Would that make the resale value higher on the Z28 vs. the Stingray 5 years from now? I personally like the look of them both and can't decide. I wish I could buy both.

Oh and this is not a "Which car is faster, lighter, etc" thread. More of a What would you do in my situation thread. I do already own a 68 camaro with a backseat if that helps.

Z28 will probably have a higher resale value because it will be produced in limited numbers. If I had a 68 I would get the Stingray.

You are not going to want to daily drive the Z28 or put kids in it. It's a race car. The suspension will be stiff and make your teeth chatter and a lot of sound deadening material was removed.

The backseat of the Camaro is doable for kids in convertible form. But it's too tight in coupe form to consider it. At least with the top down they kids don't feel totally trapped.

I have 2 kids as well. Did the mustang convertible for a while. I have 2 corvettes now to get 4 seats.

Agreed; If you were going on that premise, you'd be better off getting the Camaro ZL1, then the Z28. It will still be a relatively rare car

I thought they stripped the back seat from the Z28? I may be wrong, but I'm pretty confident they did for weight saving reasons

Thanks for the help guys. I've never actually sat in the backseat of a newer camaro so I'm not sure how small it is. Will someones legs even fit or does the front seat press against the backseat? If someone can't sit there then its a no brainer to get the vette.

Z28 has no air-conditioning nor a stereo. Just making sure you are aware.

I wouldn't want to put my kids back there, it's that small. If you did you are on borrowed time before they outgrow it.

I think I read somewhere that the AC was an option you could add. Not having a radio would suck.

concider the issues of the ls7 that some had and are having to date (including 427 vert). That alone would make me go hmmm. which is to bad because it is quit a car... hey but both have ugly rear so it's a win win (lol couldn't help).
For what it is worth I to was concidering a new z28 to park next to our two 69, but the ls7 "issues" are something i don't think i could overlook.

Ah, my bad. You are correct. Went back and found another article that said you can add it.

Unless you were going to seriously race it I would go with the ZL1...

Not having a stereo really isn't that big of deal anyway, without any sound deadening in the car you wouldn't be able to hear much anyway!!!
