i just went over to one of the largest vette dealers in Houston today and they told me they are above MSRP but the reason was, they require a mandatory $1500 Environmental package which includes: Paint protection for bird droppings and environmental stuff, wheel locks and interior leather and carpet protection. I was kind of dumbfounded on this being mandatory. So, basically they are selling at MSRP, but requiring forcing the bs package that is nothing but profit.
Anybody have thoughts on that? Are other dealers doing that? i have USAA and usually buy any extended warranty from them. The environmental package on my wife's $40K Dodge Ram pickup was only $300 for the same protection.

yep ... that's called the "dealer pack" .. it's nothing but an additional profit mark-up. I agree - RUN from those guys, whoever they are.
I'm in Houston also. And ordered (after a terrible ordeal with one of the Houston dealers) from Rick Conti in Ohio at Coughlin Chevrolet. He made the whole thing an extremely easy process. My car arrived at the dealership today.
Which dealer is this so I can make sure and not buy from them? I stopped by Munday earlier this week but didn't discuss price since I am not ready yet.
If you have USAA, contact them about their USAA Auto Buying service.
I read a post by another member on this forum that used them, found a small dealer that sold him a 2014 Corvette Stingray at INVOICE. Certainly a rare deal right now, but your excellent deal may be out there for the discovery.
Absent that, contact one of the forum dealers who will probably sell you the exact vehicle you desire at MSRP. I can personally vouch for Les Stanford Chevrolet (Dennis Tap-Salesman)

I would tell them; that is fine, unfortunately I have to pass alone the environmental emissions test that my state requires on my trade and the fee comes, after compliance, to $2,500. At MSRP I also require retail price on my Trade. That should make for a fair deal.
How are wheel locks environmentally friendly? Maybe, when these special wheel locks spin they burn hydro carbons and make the world a better place to live in.

Hook'em!! Great to see another Longhorn on here. After i heard of the USAA buying service helping another member a few weeks ago. I went to the site and put in zip codes in small towns in texas and it came up with $3500 off MSRP with a certificate to a couple of dealers. But, the dealers said it was a mistake and didn't honor them. USAA has since taken care of any discount off MSRP. So that is a dead horse.

All good advice. But USAA is not going to be able to give their buyer discount on the C7 for now. Chevy will not accept at his point. Maybe next year, when sales are slowing down.
Very common dealer BS. Just bought a new hyundai and got the same crap. $600 for alarm/tint/sealant/etc. Told them to take it all off or I wouldn't buy it, or throw it in for the agreed price. They left it all on and no charge. Just another stupid dealer trick.
