Approximately when does production for 2014 end and 2015 begin?

Traditionally, The end of production is in May with final orders accepted in March which would fall into the estimated dealer allocation timeline of 6 to 9 months. Historically the new model year cars begin arriving late August at dealers.

Thanks direct007. I am torn between ordering a 2014 with an approximate arrival date of March 2014 or just waiting for a 2015.

I understand, this car is smokin' hot! But fortunately, the rational side of my brain is winning out over the emotional side. I'm waiting to see what next year brings and also to see if there are any long term issues that may not arise immediately. Financially, I rather pick up a 3 or 4 year old garage queen and let the new owners take the major depreciation hit. If money was no object, there would be a silver vert on order right now for me!

Not entirely accurate. A friends new 2009 C6 Z06 VIN #00075 was built in early June, 2008 and it arrived at Reliable Chevrolet at the end of June, 2008. There were 2008's also on the line in front of his car in early June, 2008. My 2009 C6 Z06 was built in the latter part of June 2008, some 1000 cars behind my friend's, and arrived at Reliable on July 25, 2008. What held mine up was it got caught sitting in the factory lot, during the early July shutdown(employees take vacation and annual plant maintenance done), so it wasn't placed on a transporter until mid July, 2008. Reliable had other new 2009 C6's in the showroom during July of 2008.

I was going by the 2012 production statistics. Whether it's the end of May or June, probably is dependent on demand and most likely this will be a June end of production year. Based on the reason for the OP's question, it probably doesn't make a huge difference as the 2015's will most likely begin arriving in August.

You have to watch those garage queens. Sold one and heard
through the grapevine that a complete change in routine. Outside,
weather, harder driving, really brought allot of demons out..
Lights went out, switches needed replacing, seals dried out.
Yeah it did not cost them like a new one. But bet they had
allot of aggravation doing repairs. own several garage queens
and so you just pass on deterioration.

There is a 5 month wait...?

Is that accurate for new orders now?

I'm looking to order in a a couple of months, maybe sooner...
but perhaps I'll hold out for the 2015.

Saw the car today in person. Sick!

My local dealers have not gotten a C7 in yet. Until the C7s start arriving locally I'm treading water. And the Convertibles are not being built, Yet!

I appreciate your insight.

Perhaps, I shouldn't have used the term "garage queen" I purchased my loaded 3LT 2007 vert in August of 2010. It was 3 years old at that point. Original list was just south of $67k. Purchased for $36.5k which was about 45% off the original list. The car had 25,000 miles which in my opinion is a "garage queen" Not an "1800 mile garage queen" but a car that was driven on average around 8000 miles a year, so most likely not a daily driver but enough miles to iron out any issues.

Using this formula on an $80,000 loaded convertible...I hope to see a similar mileage car on sale in the $44,000 area in 3 to 4 years. As long as my 2007 holds up (which I love) I won't mind waiting it out. I love gadgets though and if they add any more bells and whistles in the next few years, that may be my breaking point.

If you don't want a Z51 or an exposed CF roof, there are plenty of dealers with allocations, and if you order this coming Monday, you will most likely have your car in less than 6 weeks. Forum dealers have unsold Z51's inbound that you can purchase and take delivery shortly.

No one has to wait 5 months for a new C7 unless they are bound and determined to buy their car from their local small dealer who will only be getting a half dozen C7's in the next 6 months.

Standard model change over is done in June. There are a few exceptions as in 2005. GM ran the 2005 MY production over into August because the new A6 transmission wasn't ready and they didn't want to run 2-3 months of the 2006 MY with the old A4 and then run the remaining 9-10 months with the new A6 transmission.

You can't pull one abnormality out and then proclaim it as the norm.

Thanks for the response... When I order I'm going with the Z51 package.

Let's see how things look the closer it gets to the time I am ready to order. I have a trade so that always makes it more fun.

Is there really a Z51 or CF constraint anymore? My son works at a dealership that just received a C7 with both. It was VIN 2511.

Two things might have happened.. The car might have been ordered before the constraints or the dealer was lucky enough to get his order in quickly during his allocation, and managed to snag one of the few Z51's and exposed CF roofs that were available. Not every constraint is 100%(meaning than no cars are being built with that option).

I'm not certain if I want a coupe or convertible. I do want competition seats and I've heard those are on constrain for quite a while. It seems like I will be waiting a while if I order a 14 or 15.

I'm in the same boat. I was thinking I would wait until the 2015s to trade in my 2012 but now I'm worrying a bit. Rumors of a steep price increase especially for Z51 and the chance that Lime Rock Green will be so unpopular that it won't be offered in 2015 is forcing me to reconsider a 2014. I had a green 1970 and 2000 and just love that color...
