I saw this in San Jose. They'll sit it in the showroom to draw some traffic. Then when the allocations are lifted and the car becomes easier to find, they will drop the price to something that will move the car. The sticker basically says, we don't want to sell this and we are going to use it as a eye candy for our dealership. Unless, of course we catch a big sucker we can reel in.

While there are some on this forum that wants everyone to believe that the C7 is in extreme short supply and paying over MSRP is the norm, that is not true. The vast majority of C7's are being sold for MSRP, while some are being sold below MSRP and some dealers are asking above MSRP, so it's possible that some people are paying over MSRP.

check out the number 2 dealer in the US at http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c7-d...chevrolet.html

Bunch of C7's inbound at MSRP.

This was the reason I went with Mike@Criswell. The CA dealers are on crack IMO anyway. There is NO REASON to pay 20k above MSRP....

My local dealers are for any they have on the floor, but I ordered mine from the one of those dealers at MSRP. I made it clear up front that I wouldn't pay over MSRP. I'd just buy one from out of state and have it shipped.

As far as why they add AMV to the price; because there's a sucker around every corner.

I was at the largest Corvette dealer in CT today. They sold 16 out of 18 allocations (2 are still on the lot) at $5000 over MSRP (per the sales weanie I spoke with).

I would never pay over MSRP, but that just me.

Wait 6 months and MSRP will not be the going rate. Dealers make a healthy margin on these cars and will discount them when sales start to taper off. It will happen with the C7 just like it did with the C6.

No question - my dealer is at MSRP. I don't have a problem with that; he gave me a hell of a deal on the C6 I bought last year, and MSRP on a first-edition C7 is reasonable, imho.

I agree with you 100%. A salesman essentially told me the same thing.
