I got my hands on a build that was exactly what I wanted minus navigation. It's too far along in the process to add navigation at this point.
My question is this; Is there a way to add the navigation when I get my car delivered? Obviously if there is a way to do that, I'd much rather have that then to have another navigation tool in the car. I'm hoping there is some kind of factory software I can buy that will add it.
I have had to have a complete Nav/GPS system replace in a GMC SUV and the cost was about $1,500.00 and they installed a dealer supplied reconditioned unit and it worked with out any issue.
I would think doing the same in a vette would be about the same cost.

The OP is not replacing an existing unit. He wants to know if NAV can be added to a car that does not have it.
Being the Infotainment system runs off of some form of MS operating system (i.e. CE6) I would assume the application only needs to be added, however, I assume the GPS antenna needs to be added and connected. In the C6 you had the radio system, if you wanted to upgrade you had to remove that and add the Denso system. The MyLink system is already in all C7s so just application software and antenna is needed.

Now who can do it and when, is anyones guess
Thanks for the replies and this is kind of what I assumed also. I figured my local dealership wouldn't be able to do it, but that a bigger one might be able to do it 6 months or so down the road.

Check it out first.I have it in my new SRX and 2014 1500.It is still
not near as good as my Garmon.I am glad I did no order it.
You get free onstar with the car for 6 months no? Maybe you can live with that until you can sort out the nav issue. Onstar is a good system and will get you where you need to go every time with just a push of a button. Good luck in whatever you decide.
I was always a big fan on the Nav in the C6 but now I'm reconsidering. For the about $800 you can get 3 or so years of OnStar turn by turn. Or use Google for free. (I had a passenger use Google on his Android phone to get to a restaurant and I was amazed at how fast he set up the route and how accurate it was.)
Of course it is a moot point if you are getting a 3LT car...
I can only assume it's a software flash for $999.99 or so. The GPS antenna might already be installed. I know with some other car MFGs you can add it with a simple flash, GPS antenna is already installed.
If you did not order it and nav is important to you, I suggest finding someone to take over your car and order one with it. If not, get aftermarket. Kenwood is the best as this one comes with Garmin Navigation, which is hands-down the best out there. I think that due to the up/down sliding mechanism, software upgrade and order parts need to be installed, that you may need to spend about $3,000 to retrofit a new unit (remember that there are no units out there on eBay yet, so you will neeed to get the parts from the dealer. Aftermarket works wonders by the way. I tried retrofitting one in my 2005 BMW M3 and it was gonna cost about $4,000. Then, I went with a Kenwood (top of the line) for $1,700 with all the toys (steering control, xm, rear view cam, etc). Never looked back...

I'm definitely not giving up my order which iz a 2LT Z51 that is beyond the constraint. It should be in production any day at this point so the NAV isn't going to make or break it.
I'm fine not having NAV, but was just wondering if anyone knew if it was an easy process to add it. I've become pretty proficient with using my phone.
The system is not MS based, it's based on Linux. I have the same upgrade question and I have to assume there's very little hardware difference and in fact, it should already have a GPS receiver built in, that's how On Star works.
As for replacing it with a Kenwood unit, are you serious? The infotainment / dash are tightly coupled, I can't imagine separating the two would give you desirable results.

During the Precision Stingray event, I asked Harlan/John the same question... they both said a possible dealer-installed accessory upgrade in the future but quite too early to confirm for now. Becaaaause- the GPS antenna is supposedly mounted in the rear bumper area (somwhere there but I don't know where) so the functionality exists since OnStar uses it too. No need to swap out 8" displays etc... if anything, it's definitely a software upgrade plus (maybe) some minor hardware if any.

This is an interesting point. If the new C7 allows the owner to "mate" his/her cell phone to the vehicle, and, the owner's phone is an I phone, or, one with an Android operating base, both types of phones have built in Navigation apps. Once the owner "mates" his/her mobile phone to the car, wouldn't you be able to run the mated mobile phone's nav. through the vehicle's informat system??
Google bringgo and my link. There is alot of info on mating our phones to the Chevy my link system. No definitive word yet either.
Yup. It works on the Chevy Spark and Sonic with MyLink... wonder if it works on the Stingray? Will the C7's Infotainment functionaly tap into the BringGo app? Or will this in-dash app be functional through an update via MyLink’s USB port? If anyone knows or has tried yet, please post.
I remember reading in a Camaro ZL1 forum about a 3rd party company who subcontracts all over the place, that for about $1200 to $1500 they could upgrade a 2013 MyLink minus the Nav to a unit with navigation, using comparable maps and such. It looked like it worked quite well. I wouldn't sweat it too much, as time goes on there will be more and more on that subject.

I was about to download BringGo to my Android mobile phone from the Google PlayStore, BUT, the reviews posted at this link were horrible, pretty much to the effect the app didn't/doesn't work at all.and/or, worked very poorly/sporadically.
Has anyone successfully used this app on their new C7??
If it will work, seems like quite a savings from buying the Nav. option versus the nominal cost to download the BringGo app to your smartphone(ie..99 cents).
