I'd like to know the same.... GM/Chevy's order guides reads as "painted calipers" only. Powdercoat would be nice but even if just painted at least I would hope it's covered under warranty.
My Camaro SS's Brembos are painted and in less than a year, the paint has gone on the dull side. Obviously wear & tear is a factor... brake dust, road debris and heat accelerates the cosmetic degradation.
I'm pretty sure it's just paint which makes the additional price absurd considering the black calipers are painted as well. You are just substituting one color for another, why the $500+ up charge?

It's simple... It's called profit!
I skipped that option and am waiting for a vendor to do different colors for less money. Looking for a ZR1 Blue for my calipers.

$595 for painted calipers? That's crazy.
I painted the calipers on one of my C5's with a can of Rustoleum from Home Depot for about $5.
I haven't seen the lettering on the C7 calipers, so I don't know how easy/difficult they would be to paint yourself.

That's the good thing with these Brembo calipers... not overly difficult to DIY paint. Plus I bet the Corvette stenciling will soon hit the 3rd party market (ebay, etc.)
$595 is a cost for cosmetics, like like some of the paint upcharges (Laguna Blue is an additional $995). Ferrari charges $1500 for painted calipers. I guess they figure they can get it...
