Just ordered my C7
I'm very excited about this car. Spoke with snorman about it this weekend (super nice guy, by the way), and he convinced me to get it over a C6 ZR1.
Had a 991 GT3 on order (drool), but I really wanted a manual. Also, with the C7 being literally half the price, it was too much to resist.
Obligatory pics will be posted once it arrives.

But if you were considering a 991 GT3 or a ZR1 you have taken a step down in caliber of car IMO, a big step down.
The car you built sounds like a great combination, good lcuk when you get it.

The 991 GT3 is probably the most complete sports car in the world right now (arguable, but that's my opinion), but the fact that I have my other cars, I couldn't justify the cost of it.
Now, if I sold my GT-R, that's a different story. But I wouldn't take a 991 GT3 over my GT-R (again, only my opinion). Maybe down the road a 991 Turbo once they can be modified for big power, but I'll wait and see.
That leaves me right now with getting an 'in-between' car. The C7 is beautiful, relatively light, has great tech, a MUCH improved interior, a torquey V-8, a manual transmission, and is very affordable. I think it fits the bill perfectly for what I'm looking for.
Choosing between the ZR1 and the C7 was a tough decision. A barely used '10 or '11 ZR1 can be had for low $70's, so I had to think about what best met my needs. The ZR1 is faster, yes...but I don't need something super fast for this particular car. I already have that. It was the looks and the interior upgrades that really sold me on the C7.
Anyway, I never make decisions without putting a ton of thought into them, so I assure you my choice to go with the C7 was well-thought out from all angles. I'm aware of all of the pros and cons of each vehicle, so I went into this with my eyes wide open.
Thanks for the reply.

And congrats...that's a nice build.
I'm quite a fan having had a 3 and a 3RS, if you ever get a chance if you haven't already throw one around in the corners on a circuit, it will do exactly what you tell it too.
Being a fan of less volume built product I would have had a hard time going the route you went but your explanation makes perfect sense, you will be getting a nice car to fill what sounds like a niche for you.
Again best of luck and thanks for your notes.

My pleasure. I always enjoy conversing with fellow enthusiasts.
I haven't owned a GT3 as of yet. Driven a 6GT3 and 997.2 GT3, and loved them. However, I personally owned a 6GT2, a 997TT, a 996TT, and currently have a Cayenne GTS...so I'm a huge Porsche fan.
Also, my good friend has a 991 S PDK that I've spent a lot of time in, and it really is a much better platform than the 997. He also has a 991 GT3 on order and his car will be here in December. So, 'if' I were to fall in love with it and just have to have it, I still have time to cancel the C7 order and let my GT3 come in (I haven't actually canceled my GT3 order just yet).
Anyway, I'm pretty excited about the C7. I think it'll be the perfect car for my needs. Thanks for the reply.
) when you stated that a $70k C7 .. " is very affordable". I plan to get one but it will be after the furor has died down and the dealers are able to negotiate off the MSRP.

When I stated that, I meant relative to its competition. It's a world-class vehicle at a bargain (relatively speaking). I should have been more clear.
A $70k vehicle is a significant purchase for me as well.
