I've been off and on the C7 forum all day just browsing and reading the general discussion. The Z51 constraint seems to have quite a few people upset and I saw earier today some said they would even change their order to a base. A quick scan of the net last night on some of the popular Car purchasing sites I saw at least 20/25 C7 Z51 and A6's with pictures "IN Stock" at dealers around the country. I would sure take a look and maybe, just maybe change my other options a bit if I had to if the Z51 etc. was that important to me. I'm going to get a C7 14/15 next spring as my C6 is going to bed for the winter soon - (Michigan) You guys that are lucky enough to drive year-round search the net and go get one -- just my opinion.
It has been discussed that the car purchasing sites report deliveries to dealers but most, if not all, of these cars are already pre-sold. That and/or some dealers doing a bait and switch.
I'm sure you are right. But to me, i've got plenty of cell minutes to use, I would at least give a call nail them down and go get it. Lots of ways with a lisc Chevy dealer to make a out of state transaction. IMHO I would give this a shot rather than chg/canx my Z51 order.
Someone posted in another thread that they had called nearly every dealer that has "inventory" per these car sites. Everyone said they were pre-sold.
One of the forum dealers confirmed that these sites even include vehicles shipped but not yet delivered and they make no distinction between pre-sold or not pre-sold. They stay "in inventory" until their status in GM's system is updated to delivered.

I found a local car that's almost perfectly what I would want. In stock, on their showroom floor. They're asking $89,999 and frankly, they can suck it.
I have also heard that some dealers post "sold" cars as "stock" when they are shipped - partly because the sale could fall through. I'm sure many sold order do fall though. When something new comes out that is going to be hard to get some buyers will actually order more than one car though different dealers.

All the local dealers near me show vehicles in "Transit" All these vehicles have been ordered and none are in stock even though, on the internet they appeared to be available.
It is a lot like the airlines overbooking...lots of seats available when there are really only 3 on that flight. The cars people want to buy are not available at msrp regardless of what Joe says.

For 2 weeks I called over 100 dealerships most were customer ordered cars. Found a few like the one in Austin being sold to the highest offer. The four they had in Odessa for 10 to 15 K over MSRP. One in Louisiana that was for sale but not for sale. And a few 3lt loaded to the max cars costing why more than I want to spend.
Check out the autotrader numbers are going up thread… lot’s of good info there.
Lots of C7 and Z51s available and unsold in my area. (Providence, RI).
Did not call the dealer because none of the colors were my choice. But they did show 4 in stock in Warwick R.I.!!!!!. Thank you for the info. None available here yet.
