Default Question about Performance Exhaust

I just got my Z51 auto with performance exhaust. Been raining so today is the first pretty day to really get it out and on the road. Noticed that in Sport mode when I get between 25-30 mph it sounds like a rag has been sucked up into the exhaust, it just shuts down. Anyone else notice this or maybe I have a setting set wrong? It also did it at least once I could tell in Track mode.

Were you using paddles? With auto, apparently you have to be using paddles to disable AFM.

Are you talking about the sound of the exhaust or the performance of the car? Just wondering what you mean by "shuts down"

If you're talking about the sound, are you light on the throttle when it happens?

The exhaust sound seems to shut down. And no not light on the throttle, getting on the freeway and about 25-30 the sound just stops and sounds like it was muffled with a rag or something

What happens is even if you have it turned permanently on in sound management (like I do), most modes other than track will let 'eco' start if you have the automatic and just a light load on the engine. When it's in V4 mode, the baffles close until you give it enough gas to go back to V8. I guess it needs the extra back pressure maybe.

I've noticed the same thing on LoLa when highway cruising. Guess that's when I can't hear the 4 trumpets it's time to pipe some music from my iPod .

Just stay out of AFM altogether by shifting to M and using the paddles on the highway, so easy to do. This and the exhaust set to off should get you better sound at all speeds.

I have the manual trans, and the Sport setting does quiet the exhaust at certain throttle settings. Only the Track mode keeps it loud all the time. As mentioned, the other way to keep it wide open is to shut it off in the touch screen menu.

Ok took it out today and turned it off in the menus. Still noticed in sport mode it seems to suck a rag sound still between 25-30 mph. Tried the paddle mode and does not do it then. Normal ? And probably just me? Or is something up? Runs perfect other than that. Now I did trade in a manual z51 07 vert. Maybe my imagination after hearing that car for so long?

No matter the mode you are in, in an automatic the AFM will kick in UNLESS you are using the paddles. You experienced this very fact. Right?

I have the same issue. About 25-30mph in 2nd or 3rd with A6 it sounds like a rag is sucked up. I am glad to know that it is not just me. I still plan on taking it in and having it looked at. Freaked me out the first time.

there is no reason to take it in....as said MORE THAN ONCE above, with an A6, if you are not in M and using the paddles, it will shut down...normal...
