Default Z51availability

What's with the lack of z51's.
I would think that GM would have planned for this
Can someone help me understand this
Now I have to wait 3 to 4 months before I can order the car

^ ummmmmmmm . . . . . You just posted 6 days ago that you are going to wait 6 more months before ordering a C7 to give the plant a chance to work out all their quality issues . . . . . Indeed, you are a Goofy One

Z51 is such a great value that I think it truly has overwhelmed the numbers they estimated. I'm guessing way more folks are ordering them than they ever thought the economy would support.

They could do 2 things to fix this discrepancy. Raise the Z51 price considerably or squeeze their suppliers for more parts. Lets hope they do the second one.

I think that anybody that doesn't wait, opting for a 2015 is in for a very big surprise..Z51=$$$$$

I would say that won't happen. A small increase maybe but a large increase would be counterproductive to how they market this. The biggest benefit to waiting for a 2015 is that hopefully they get these quality problems sorted out at the plant by then.

I think they'll use the slack in demand for the non-Z71 models to fill vert orders this winter.....

I wouldn't expect a lot of the second one either because they clearly have been pressing for more from their suppliers and, IMO, we have seen it has caused some quality issues. Their system is set to produce a certain number of the Z51 and they are going to have to live with that. It might be a mistake to ramp up to produce more (if they could) and then have a drop in demand.

Possibly. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I know a few people that don't want a base car and if they can't get a Z51 in reasonable time they just won't buy.

I like this..Velocity Yellow, Z51,Carbon Fiber Int.,Preformance Exhaust, Red calipers, Black mirrors\spoiler, black wheels..My order is still 1100 accepted, whatever that means. I was told Mar\Apr del which is fine for me, but anything earlier is not a problem. Ordered Aug 6\13..Lost my 2007 July 8\13..

What makes you think that the verts that are currently in the production system will be non-Z51 models (I knew that is what you meant and not a Silverado model)? My guess is there are more verts in the production pipeline that also ordered the Z51 model than you might realize for the following couple reasons. 1) As everyone has mentioned most people that ordered a Z51 will NEVER put it on the track. 2) The price of the Z51, even on a vert, is very reasonable, and 3) The first two vert consensus that were in August did not have a Z51 constraint at that time. So, my guess is there are a fair amount of verts that were allocated with Z51s in August and are sitting at build code 3000 waiting for the vert production to start, including mine.

I will agree that there may be more base verts built than what we have seen with the coupes, but until I see some real statistics, I am not willing to just guess that they will build non Z51 verts to deal with the current availability issues. JMO
