I've been away for a few weeks, and did a quick search without much luck. Have pics of this wheel surfaced - as in actual pictures of these wheels on a real-life C7? Or is GM's big secret still being held? Lol
I agree with his opinion that these are not worth the $1,495 premium.
I have to agree, they are not what I had in mind....my fault, I was thinking the machined face wheels would be about the level of shine of the original C6 "polished" wheels (chrome is too much shine to suit me). The up side is that my convertible is still at 1100 so this will save me $1,495! I wish they had done this wheel the way they did the late model year C6 machined wheel.
All I can say is WOW. To put things in perspective I'm attaching two close-ups, the first is the machine face wheel and the second is the silver wheel. In the next post I will attach two pics of C7's - first with the machine faced wheel and second with the silver wheel. I can hardly notice the difference when the pics are placed together, so I can only imagine when seeing a car solo it would be extremely difficult to notice any difference. No idea why GM decided to charge $1500 for a practically identical wheel.
It is a machine face wheel gone wrong. In the wheel industry machine face is used to set a contrast between the face and the background, between the spokes.usually done in black or gunmetal so the spoke face pops at you. Chevy just forgot to paint the background a dark paint. So the face looks the same from 10 feet away. Insane...
Just doesn't make sense why they would do that. Very dumb.
A machined -face wheel w/o a contrasting colored barrel/inner spokes to differentiate it from the std wheel ( unless you are on your knees inspecting the untrafine record album groove pattern with a magnifying glass) is a "fail" , esp when charging $1500 dollars .
You can do that only if it is a unique style used only for that finish option .

Bizarre - one would think that the General would know this? Can GM'er, Talon or someone give their opinion? Hopefully this is fixed for 2015, I feel bad for customers who get duped into picking this option not realizing it's almost an identical wheel.
GM should give the buyer the same color choices as the wheels for the Z51 package: Silver (base), Chrome or Black (both upgrade $$). Agree with all - hard to tell the difference between the base silver and the upgraded machine face.
I'm ordering my C7 with the base painted aluminum wheels and having a local shop powder coat them comp grey
imo, comp grey as avail on the C6 is nicer and less blingy than the current gloss black on the C7 with added benefit that it hides brake dust , but as posted before, designers were compelled to match all the shiny black vents on the C7

I have comp greys on my current C6 (it's for sale!) and I love the combo of comp grey wheels/blue car
