I've been used to electrical power rack and pinion steering on my 2010 Lexus for several years now. It's state of the art without drawing power for hydraulics off the engine and to me, has the same if not better feeling. Like hydraulic it still maintains non power functionality if you lost electronics or engine power. And never have to flush or change the power steering fluid

If you look down in front of the engine at the steering rack, you can see the electronic portion integrated into the top of the steering rack.
