Default Protection Plan

Does the C7 need a coat of wax immediately (I'm not planning to buy the exterior & interior protection plan) or can it wait 6-12 months?

The "exterior & interior Protection plan" sound like something the dealer is offering...stay away from that. The exterior does need to be protected immediately to keep contaminates from getting into the paint. If you do not want to do this yourself, find a good detail shop in your area and have them do it...you do not want the dealer doing this.

I thought you should not wax a new car for at least six months to allow the paint to cure.

The painted panels from the factory are baked and are already cured. Not so if a body shop does a car repair, then there is a wait time for the paint to do the "out gassing" process.
