This is not acceptable, for some of these are obvious issues. The problem is that people perceive this as a GM problem. People are just pointing out that ALL mfrs have QC issues.
It is the fault of "GM" and "QC", no way in 2013 there should be these kind of paint issues from a huge manufacturer like GM. We are not in 1975. Hell...Earl Scheib does not have this kind of paint issues.

I agree with you. A leaky differential is much more acceptable to me than an obvious paint run on the door, a missing part or a bad panel gap. I'm just saying that Porsche and even Ferrari are not immune to problems.
I plan on getting a 2015 C7 convertible after they have been in production for 3 months and the quality issue situation has been resolved.
Who says the quality issues will be resolved by then? Also if you tell GM you'll buy the car at such and such a time, they have no motivation to fix the quality. Why should they? You are saying you'll buy it anyway.
It will probably take years for the quality to be fixed, even if GM makes it a top priority.

I don't understand all the tension in this thread. I believe most of us are just questioning the fact that some cars (note I said some and not all) are leaving the factory with some pretty obvious problems. These gross issues like bad paint, panel fit, etc should be caught at the factory. Period. That is what quality control is all about. What I can't fathom is all you guys that have a C7 now with (at least in your minds) perfect quality control cannot accept the fact that there are some cars coming out of the factory with inferior quality. I don't understand why this has become a contest detailing that your Ferrari, Porsche, Audi, etc had problems so it must be acceptable for the C7. Nobody should accept this from any brand and everybody should be pulling for GM to stop it. If it is not right don't let it out of the factory. Simple.
Agreed that these issues should not have passed QC, and if my car had been delivered with same I would have been all over GM to address them, especially considering how management has been touting the vast improvements in quality (interior, panel gaps etc.). It will be interesting to see how this all plays out - handling of delivered cars with issues and subsequent builds.

Another aspect of the QC issues is this, those of us who have watched all this go down will be much more suspect if/when we go to buy a C7. Whether or not that is a good thing is unknown but GM should be concerned about this because bad news travels further faster than good news.
The issue is when you as an individual pay 55-75k for your sports car you expect it to be flawless. You personally don't give a damn about the aggregate of cars. It's you who are looking at onion skin paint or whatever other issue. Easy for others to say " quit whining" but you are the one with the hassle. Or maybe your friend comes over to look at your new car and says" hey dude why does your paint look like crap in this spot?"
I've had a Nissan 350 Z that had pock marks all over the front bumper from thin paint and a cracked wheel that leaked air from the factory, a new C350 benz with fake chrome peeling all over the interior within a year. It happens to all cars regardless of price.
We expect perfection especially when we pay north of 50K but sadly it's the same quality you might see in a 20 k car. They are all made more or less the same.

Hey Webster, shouldn't you name be Bye Bye BMW? By is a preposition, Bye is a noun! How can you judge a C7 if you don't own one, go back to the C6 forum.

Nope. As defined by Merriam Webster it is an interjection and a variant of bye.
And I don't have to own something to judge it, whether it be a car, a washing machine, or ????? That is the beauty of internet forums, we can use anecdotal information from folks who do own the item to form an opinion.

I wanted to buy a C7 (even had a deposit down), but SO may problems!! So a couple of weeks ago I got a 2014 Cayman S. It's a complete re-design - not one flaw! Perfect paint, awesome car. I still want a Stingray.......but after they get sorted out.

I'm thinking along the same lines. I would much rather have a Corvette (really hard to give up that V8), but the thought of driving something with visually obvious poor quality has about the same appeal to me as wearing a cheap suit.

Owning one sample of anything does not make someone an expert in the quality of the product. Reviewing the aggregated reports of others provides a far better indication.
