Default A question about painted calipers

I have never owned a car with painted calipers, but am strongly considering them when I order my C7. So here is my question:

How do you keep these clean? I mean, I have never had any reason to clean the exterior of a brake caliper before. I clean the wheel and that is pretty much "it". However, if I do order those bright red painted calipers that look so damn good, I guess I am going to have to take the extra time to clean them whenever I wash my car. Any special trick to this?

Just want to know....

no tricks... wash them often with your car soap.....you can get a lot more detailed and complicated , but for a person who just wants to keep them clean, just wash em. But do it often...letting it go for months will require special stuff to get them clean...

I just dunk a toothbrush in my soap bucket and clean the caliper between the spokes my C6. Comes out looking fine. Powder coating is pretty durable. I do take the wheels off once a year to give them a thorough cleaning though.

I would not hesitate to get the red calipers!

Aluminum calipers don't retain the heat like cast iron, so you can use polish/Rejex on them which helps in removal of brake dust. But as others have stated, you can easily keep them looking good with regular washing. It's the pad composition that is the real culprit. Ceramic pads will just about eliminate the problem, however, you will lose some braking power with them.
