IS this NEW for the C7 .. don't recall seeing for C6?
IF one follows this then that means changing before going to the track and changing again after the track event. They may see more problems than expected as some people may "reuse" the oil and filter!
TIP: For track events or competitive driving, Mobil 1™ 15W-50 engine oil must be used.

Yes, it is new. As are the rotor cooling rings one is supposed to add to the wheels for the track to help reduce brake fade (pg 9-7 of the C7 Owners Guide).
Mine will have mobil 1 in it all the time after the 1st oil change. My dealer is giving me 4 oil changes the first 2 years and I am going to have them put in mobile 1. The dexos oils are not 100 percent synthetic.
Most hard core track rats will change to a slightly higher viscosity oil for a track weekend and then drain it out after the event and replace with normal spec oil. The higher viscosity helps maintain protection during extended periods of elevated oil temps while on track. Removing it - along with any wear materials in it, and it's higher viscosity which isn't optimum for street driving, particularly cold start-ups is pretty routine.
Can someone explain to me why you would need to take out the Mobil 1 after a track event for daily driving?
That note in the manual isn't worded the best. Basically the recommend Oil for every day driving is 5W-30 (Dexos1 ACDelco). The oil recommended for track events is 15W-50 (Mobil 1). 5W-30 is better for colder start-ups and general use with lower temp operation and across a broader range of temperatures. 15W-50 oil is going to be better for the more demanding, higher RPM, higher temperatures that come with tracking the car.
