Default competition seats

Has anyone had a chance to compare the competetion seats to the standard seat. Are they comfortable enough for a long ride?

As far as I know, nobody actually has them yet, but several cars have been getting placed with the seats and are at status 3000+ now, including my own order. Whoever said not until the first of the year has some re-thinking to do...

How long?

For example. I drove my car from Kentucky to Florida (800+ miles, 13 hours in one day). I have the GT seats. That would not have been possible for me with the Competition seats.

They are firmer (both in the feel in the seat and on the back). They have a deeper bolster so smaller width individuals will tuck in to them more deeply than the GT seat, larger individuals will press against them in more locations and in my opinion, uncomfortably so.

The Competition seats were really intended to be a better option for those that compete (track on a road course) while meeting all of the safety requirements of a road going vehicle to let you drive it there and back with those seats in the car. Yes they look really cool but they will not be as comfortable as the GT seat overall.

REAL race seats, not reclining seats, but RACE seats are very difficult to get into, and out of. Full conntainment seats (with a halo) are almost impossible to get out of with a helmet on. Comfortable...well yes, BUT you are strapped in with a 6 point harness, and hopefully, so tight that you can't move and can barely breathe. If you want to leave your "race" seats in for the street, then you need to buy a (very expensive) adjustable seat that bends forward or reclines, not a RACE seat.

Don't count on that. 3000 queued for production. It can still be a few weeks before it is actually assigned a TPW. The plant will have some downtime around Thanksgiving and they will be down for Christmas/New Year as they always are. With that in mind, it may very well be after the first of the year if cars aren't going to 3300/3800 in the next three weeks.

seats are never something you want to go cheap on... it drasticly changes the way your car feels. i went threw a kirkey, 2 sets of corbau's, and finally got a sparco pro adv.

i wish i would of bought the sparco in the first place. i would of saved over 1000 bucks.

The problem with the stock competition seats is very few people will be able to compare them with the GT seat before buying. I think I could take a long trip in my Ultrashield seat but I know my wife wouldn't want anything constraining her ability to move around on the seat. Even the GT seat might be too constraining.

My car isnt the only one with competition seats from my dealer. The order ahead of me with the seats is at 3300.
