Default Setting Options Without Engine Running?

I have tried to set up the various gauge and radio options without the engine running with no success. Is there a way to do this, I know when cars had keys there was a position which you could do this without the engine running.

keep key in your pocket, your foot off the brake and press the start for about 5 seconds...in the manual

Yes. Push the power button WITHOUT having your foot depress the pedal and it will activate the electronics. Another way to do this is to push the power button on the radio and it will just turn on the infotainment screen.

Not sure if that's what the manual calls out, but that's what I've done by just toying around with it

This didn't work for my C7 with manual trans. The car has to be running to set some of the functions under "VEHICLE". Even the astute young Salesman who took us through delivery at the Dealership, had to have the car running to set up some of the advanced features.

I just tried it in my car (M7) - you have to press and hold the start button for a few seconds. If you just press and release it, only the basic functions can be accessed.

Insert the remote fob inside the slot in the steering column (right side). That's how I fiddled and set everything on my infotainment system such as radio favs, etc. including the engine sound management all w/o starting up the car. The fob buttons must face up when you insert it.

Thanks Glen. It worked! Guess I wasn't holding the start button long enough.
