Orange peel isn't new to the Corvette. My 1995 C4 with original paint has about as much imperfection as the 2006 C6 that I just traded for a C7. Nineteen (19) years and paint quality hasn't improved one bit. Interesting, my wife's 2007 Cobalt has a flawless paint job, how can they do such a good job on a Cobalt and fail on a Corvette.

Maybe there is an actual identifiable, objective explanation for this. Is the paint compound itself used in Corvettes different from that in other models? Is the painting process used at Bowling Green somehow different from other plants? Is there something inherently more difficult about the painting process involving carbon fiber/composites/plastics than sheet metal? Are they going for something different in the look of the finished product?
