If the C7 is similar to the C6 on this feature, you don't even need to spend the money on the CAGS eliminator. Go to any auto parts store and get yourself a pack of 'smart fuses', short the fuse across the terminals to blow the fusible link, and replace the appropriate OEM fuse with the blown smart fuse. This will prevent the Skip-Shift solenoid from operating but provide sufficient current to keep the error light from illuminating.

I would think in traffic going from 1st to 2nd would be the logical choice. i just don't get the 1-4th benefits. Seems like you would have to immediately shift down to keep the car moving correctly. Would like somebody's input on what the car feels like in traffic going from 1st to 4th at low speeds and low rpms and why this is put in place. just clueless on it.
The manual says 1-4 at 17mph and 4-5 at 25mph. It should be just like the C6 and with all the torque you won't notice any stuttering. I plan on just starting in 2nd when stuck in traffic.

I've never owned another corvette, but the responses stating that it's unobtrusive are correct. I've had it intervene less than 4 times in over 3500 miles of mixed driving. I've seen it flash on the display, but as stated previously, if you hold the gear just a split second longer it goes away.

My C5 was much more annoying with Computer Aided Gear Selector than the C7. I am waiting for the CAGS bypass but it's not available yet. When it lock out you can go to 4th and back to 2nd if you want. At least we don't pay $1000 for the manual trans like we did with C5.

When this light comes on, the vehicle can only be shfted from 1 (first) to 4 (fourth). The shift must be completed into 4 (fourth) to turn off this feature. This helps the vehicle get the best fuel economy. After shifting to 4 (fourth), the vehicle can be downshifted to a lower gear.

Notice: Forcing the shift lever into any gear except 4 (fourth) when the 1 TO 4 SHIFT light comes on may damage the transmission. Shift only from 1 (first) to 4 (fourth) when the light comes on.

There isn't a ton of info on this 'feature' as GM refers to it, but in the most simple terms, when you're accelerating from a stop in first gear, time your 1-2 shift so that your speed is either below or above the designated range, or stick your foot in the throttle aggressively enough to not trip the <21% throttle input. In other words, use the LOUD pedal...

I like the term "The Loud Pedal"
