When you need to fly, do you feel okay with your C7 in parking?
I am just curious what you guys think. I live in Florida and have family in NY which I will be visiting next week and many more times. Ideally, I would get a flight out of Sarasota but it's a small airports and flights are ridiculous in price this time of year. So I am flying out of Tampa which is about 60 miles away. Right now, one of those shuttle vans is picking me up. Round trip with a tip is about $140. I would have to pay for parking and the gas it takes to get to the airport, but I would save money driving. For those with C7's and previous generation Corvettes, how do you feel about airport parking? Thanks.

I would never park it at an airport parking lot.

I fly from Tampa all of the time, and always leave my $120k Panamera there. Just find a nice corner/end spot for extra clearance and you will be fine. I wouldn't sweat it.

Same here. I don't exactly know why, but I've never done it and probably never will. It's kind of funny, actually. I park my much newer (and nearly as expensive) Grand Cherokee at the airport all the time but never the Corvette. Go figure.

Never! Pay for the Airport Limo and have peace of mind. I am very careful of where I park my car, certain malls and other public places are not safe. There is always that jealous jerk out there that will key you car.

That is funny. I also think nothing of parking my Lexus (which cost more than the Vette) at the airport, but would never park the Vette there. I see lots of more expensive cars there but wouldn't even consider parking the Vette. Part of it is the dirt there; indoor parking and the car is filthy afterwards; I don't want that on the paint.

This is my first Corvette . I bought my GTO and Mustang GT new and drove them to the airport and they were fine, but the Corvette has me thinking!
Do you share the same fear as me?
I only have one car now. I was so tired of owning two cars. If I buy a beater then the Corvette will NEVER get driven. I know myself too well .
IAD is crazy but I parked my Mustang and GTO there without trouble. I parked in economy was able to find out of the way spots there. The two garages are always full though, even the top level which is exposed.

Why not just drive the Vette to NY? I mean, that's what you really want to do, you know it's true.
Not sure what the parking at the airport cost, but if you subtract that from the cost of the shuttle, and add in the piece of mind knowing that the Vette is warm and safe at home, you're probably getting a better deal. Or, see what it would cost to just rent a car from your location to the airport?

I rarely have to park at the airport usually have someone drop me..... but I have never worried about it. I go to the cheap shuttle lots...... fenced in, cameras and the shuttles are always buzzing the lots.
Seems to me a thug would want an easier place to break into the car. And if they wanted to steal it..... does not bother me. Have insurance for that.
I just drive it like a car.

I've parked every car I've owned at an airport over the last 35 years and never had a problem. That list includes:
'89 930
'96 LT4
'03 Boxster S
'04 Cayenne turbo
'12 Jeep SRT8
Since 9/11 on airport parking, especially the garages are some of the most heavily patrolled and secure parking you can find. Just find a spot with a curb or wall on one side and an expensive car on the other

Since you've considered the costs of driving vs getting a ride, I imagine you are concerned about leaving your car in airport parking. If you're concerned, spend the money and get a ride. That way you don't have to worry about what might happen to it there while you're gone. And since you're considering the financial implications, if you drive it to the airport and leave it there without incident, then you are ahead $XX. If you drive it to the airport and someone does something to it, you might be out your deductible, which is likely $XXX. Do whatever causes you the least concern...and have fun in your new Corvette!

It's an open invitation for damage. Park a $70,000 car at a public airport? Why?
You might as well put a sign on your Stingray that says... PLEASE DING, DENT, KEY, KICK AND SPIT ON THIS CAR!
Take the beater to the airport.
