There is no Nashville anymore. I asked a gm person what 4d00 was as I was worried I might be there. I was told that about every 5 -10 cars they take a car and check it harder than the std checks...it gets 4D00. Or it can mean that something on the line is not right and it has to be checked again buy special teams. At the most it was a few days delay....
yes, it could be radically diff here, or in your case, but this is what I was told by someone I trust....

I think all the Convertibles right now would be sitting at 4D00 as they have not "released" them for sale yet.
Hope Nashville is gone but I'll believe it when I see that the early VIN Convertibles get delivered in a timely fashion.

This is not accurate. Most of the verts that were pulled in the first vert consensus in August have been built and are sitting at 4B00 awaiting GMs formal release. I have only seen a few, mine included, that went to 4D00. But, I do like Glen's explanation and it makes sense.
As far as Nashville is concerned, you have to look at the circumstances at that time and determine would that make sense now for the verts. One, they were pumping out a lot more coupes then, as opposed to the verts today and they could not physically store them all in BG. Second, they had the typical roll out quality issues that needed to be addressed, which could not be accomplished at the plant. So, Nashville was set up as a make shift outdoor repair facility. Even if they wanted to do that with the verts, and there is no indication that they are, the weather is now such that an outdoor repair facility is just not practical. Third, if they are not sending coupes to Nashville now, why would they send the verts? Most of the car is the same regardless of configuration. The only things that are different, are the convertible top, the top assembly, the rear deck and trunk lid. Just not enough difference between the two. In essence, the coupes helped the verts through their initial roll out issues. JMO.
They have to release them soon, because I walked the line yesterday and there was a bunch of rag tops on the line being built and at that rate they won't have anywhere to store them.

I just got a call from my dealer that they were invoiced for my vert this morning. It should not be long now before GM makes the release on the verts.

Was just speculating on the 4D00.
Hope you don't really think that they shipped the 800 or so cars to Nashville because they couldn't store them at BG do you? Cars were in BG for weeks! They had weeks from the first built to the initial release to do QC. My car was delivered to me over a month from it's build date.
Nashville isn't a "makeshift outdoor faclility" it's a enclosed tent.
Hope no Verts get sent to Nashville. Nashville was a Repair Facility and not a QC destination.

A tent in my opinion is an outdoor facility, and yes, those cars were sent there for repair because they could not accommodate those repairs at the plant with the number of production coupes they were pumping out. That's why I called it a makeshift outdoor REPAIR facility. Maybe we are in violent agreement.
BTW, I was informed by my dealer this morning that they have been invoiced for my vert. I don't think GM would start invoicing verts to then send them to an off site location for repairs. Again, JMO!
