Default Holy sheeeit! Impressive!

The wife and I ran up to Forest Lake MN to pick up the new Z51 today and wow, I was pleasantly surprised. I have followed the C7 forum from the start. Just like many, I was ify on the back end but learned to like it. I never had an opportunity to see one live and read over and over that pictures do not do this car justice. Blah, blah, blah.

After searching the locator almost daily I caught this Z51 as soon as it was released. An email, and 2 phone calls and an under MSRP deal was struck. (yes, even on a Z51) After reading about issues with some early cars I was apprehensive about buying and was really nervous at what I might find. All for naught.

When I walked through the door and got an eyeful I couldn't believe it, this car does look different than it does in pictures. There is so much more three dimensional depth to the car especially THAT rear end. I loved it! First, it got a thorough paint inspection. I was prepared to walk if the paint or rear hatch had any issues. No worries. The paint is great with the slightest of orange peel even under florescent lights. The paperwork drug on forever. Then with my wife's help I wrapped it with temporary clear wrap so there wouldn't be any rock chips on the 150 mile trip home.

And that drive home! Impressive! It was hard to fiddle with the controls and drive defensively at the same time. A lot to learn but I managed to play with the exhaust and the magnetic ride control. I am still not sure how I got it on satellite radio and couldn't switch it back. That is for another time, it was to much fun driving home. The temporary film held up well even at 80 mph. It wasn't pretty but it beats that gut wrenching feeling of getting damage on the first drive.

Finally it is home so now what? SunTek paint protection film is on order. Window tint and lowering are tops on the list. There is plenty of time to think about it as there is snow on the ground and it is starting to look like winter is here to stay. The only negative thing I have so far is the dim display at dusk which is amplified by a very bright temperature ****.

So for those who are not sure, go for it. You will not be disappointed. Watch the Chevrolet locator and be a ready and serious buyer. Search the smaller dealers, many deal very fairly and want to increase Corvette allocations. I'm happy with fingers crossed. A couple crappy pictures...

Love at first sight

Wrapped up for the trip home

Home in a toasty shop, welcome C7!

All in fun. Back to the car, I can't wait to get close and personal with this car. It has been a long time since I have been so thrilled with a car. Usually the chase is the fun part.

Something about this one.

I was really on the fence about NRB, but in that light the color looks fantastic.
Congrats on the car!

You actually put that plastic all over the front? Can't enjoy the car if worrying about stone chips etc., I got over the super waxing polishing don't look to hard at the paint or you will dull it syndrome. Now driving comes first, I keep it nice but don't stress. I use quick detailer when needed otherwise nothing. Enjoy!

That's what it looks like. I like to protect the paint, but not sure I could bring myself to do that to a car. Anyway, great looking car and congrats on getting it.

I actually run my C6 through the brushless car-wash we own. (Oh, the horror! oh, the huge manatee!)

Works just fine. Fifteen minutes later, after drying/detailing, and I am out of there.

That's the best photo of that color I have seen yet. Is that the true color? in other NRB photos the car looks almost or a shade from black. That looks great!
