I'd like to know if the GM back up camera on the C7 works the same as the Ford units do. On the Ford units you get colored lines, Green-Yellow-Red, showing how close you are getting to an object. You also get a "beep" when getting close, like in the Yellow section, and then a "constant beep" when getting to the Red section. I've heard (from non owners) that the GM system not only does not beep but you don't get the color marker lines either, is that what you C7 owners see??

You do know the Owner's Manual contains this information and the manual is available online, right?
Guidelines
The RVC system may have a
guideline overlay that can help the
driver align the vehicle when
backing into a parking spot.
To turn the guidelines on or off:
1. On the infotainment system,
press the Settings screen
button, or turn the MENU ****
to highlight Settings and
press MENU.
2. Select Rear Camera.
3. Select Guidance Lines and then
select OFF or ON.
Yep. I use those lines a lot. They're extremely helpful.
The red lines are about as close as you really want to be. They're not when the bumper would touch something. But they're VERY close. Depending on how low the item at the line is, it could be 1-6 inches away.
Thanks guys, as I don't have a C7 yet and the dealers here don't exactly let you sit in, or operate, the ones they have I was not sure how it worked. It upsets me that I can buy a Ford for just a bit over 20k and get both features in their back up cameras, yet GM sees fit to come out with a new body style, reduce the rear & side visibility and just give you the minimum for over 60k (when optioned). I've seen to many times with my C6 & the Ford products, that the "screen" can be blinded out by sun or reflections when backing....not to mention if it rains & the lens gets water drops on it, so the "beeping" while backing should in my mind be standard.
This "cheap out" on the camera added to the 3LT interior "cheap out" (that being a Kalahari dash is different in coverage then a Grey or Red and the price is the same) makes me wonder where GM's priorities are at in giving the customer their monies worth.

You have to remember Ford was first with the techie stuff when they partnered with Microsoft a few years ago...translates to more time to embellish the user-friendliness of all the new features. I am sure GM reverse engineered Ford vehicles (common industry practice) and rather than a direct copy of Ford, came up with their own idea of what would satisfy their customers.

GM does offer "beeps" on most of their cars, just not Corvettes. Personally I'm glad I don't have buttons on the back bumper, but if you really want them have someone install an aftermarket "beeper". They are cheap

Sometimes I just have to chuckle. The C7 is the best performing sports car in the world for the money. Nothing can touch it. Maybe you should pass on the best driving experience that can be had for under $100,000 because the car doesn't beep and you think you don't like the camera that you have never seen in person.

They weren't the first by a long shot. My 03 MDX had a backup camera and sensors. Fords first vehicle with microsoft tech was in 08 in the Focus.

They did not include the backup sonar system because they said it looks ugly in the bumper.
I 100% agree with them with this choice, those buttons on the the back of the car look hideous.
