Nav is always behind on current data even on our Lexus. As someone else said, sometimes the nav data base boots up in the wrong zone. Easy fix if that is the problem.

The CTS-Vs nav is also bad from the limited experience. The X5 won't communicate with my android phone to get the phone book or a send directions. I wouldn't pay for nav on any new car unless I had to get it for other options I wanted. A $100 smart phone is better than any nav I have used.
Some people hate on star, but I love it. I just push Onstar and ask them to find a place that sells, Duck tape, or a place that sells dog collars, or the nearest place that sells Mexican take out food. In about a minted it is downloaded to my NAV
Yeah, my cousin just bought a new A6, and was telling me about his Nav (google maps). Seems like a no brainer to me, but I wonder what happens when you are in an area that doesn't have good cellular coverage.

The MMI+ system has a HDD and you can pre-download google map data for planned routes to the drive.
can you send the address to the car via google maps? (I do this frequently for my X5)
No. I've tried. It didn't work. I just use the OnStar app for my phone. That seems to work flawlessly. I'm sure at some point we'll be able to send it to my our cars via Google maps. But since GM is using Bing for their OnStar stuff, it's going to be a while.

Cost-wise, that might be more sensible, if so.

Using the OnStar app, you can send the directions or address to either the in-dash navigation or the Turn-by-turn OnStar nav.
If you're already paying for the Safe & Sound pkg from OnStar, the Directions & Connections upgrade is only $100/yr more. Compared to $800 for the dash Nav, that's 8 years of coverage. And you get other benefits.
