What about a front camera need thoughts & opinions
I know I am not the only one concerned about pulling into a parking spot with those curb stops and pulling in to close and damaging the front end. I realize there is an audible system out there to warn us if we are getting to close to an object.
However just as the C-7 is totally different than my C-6 was what would you think of this possibility?
Any way you think we could get a wiring diagram from GM so that one might be able to intercept the existing wiring for both the video and control cable so that it ends up on our existing screen? You would install an on off switch to activate the front camera. Other wise you end up with a second screen which would fit real nice in that compartment behind our existing screen.
There could be the slight possibility that while in reverse you might accidentally hit the on switch for the front camera but then you could make the rear camera the default one.
Looking for thoughts and opinions on this.

I talked with one of the GM people at the NCM HPDE at VIR in June and he said that somewhere in the first or second year of the C7 a front and rear camera system would be offered. Obviously more for track rats but it may also do what you are asking.

I had a front camera mounted when my Nav system was installed in my C5 and it was useful the first couple months but after that you get to know where the front end is. I rarely use it now. It has a switch mounted in lower the dash panel. The camera is located under the front fascia next to the radiator support so it is protected.

i GOT THE "CURB ALERT" SYSTEM you can set it for distance and height and it only cost me about a $129. I installed it in an hour. The only drawback is that it is not flush mounted.

I've been saying this for many years.....I've never hit something backing up in my old C5 but a hundred times hit the front on a parking block.

Are you saying that is where the camera is to be mounted? Would there be any provision for powering the camera and having it interfaced with the existing center display?

Actually while that may be a convenient spot under the front bumper is much better because you can see where the curb actually is. Up high the curb will disappear to far away from the curb or other obstruction. I don't know if the C7 has any supports under there to mount the camera near it to protect the camera. The C5 has 2 radiator supports under the fascia which is where I mounted mine.
