Driveway clearance question

Default Driveway clearance question

The next big hurdle for me in getting a C7 will be my driveway. I am not to concerned about the air dam scrapping other than the strange views I may get from my neighbors and my wife may freak a bit. I am worried however about the body scrapping. I've read that the air dam has a 3.5 inch clearance so that will likely scrape but no big deal.

My curb is shaped somewhat like a half a U then changes curve to look like r , not quite that steep. It is about 4 to 5 inches tall from the ground. I can come and leave the driveway at any angle.

Was hard to take a picture that shows the driveway but here is a quick shot from my phone.




If you have any advice for taking a better image I can give it a shot.


This will only be a problem for about a year and half and then I will be moving.

Bridjit makes a product that is perfect for this type of rolled curb. My neighbor has one.

Yes, these. I just learned of these here on the forum and got a couple of pieces last week. They work great. I live on the apex of a cul de sac, so I bought two center pieces, and did not connect them together. This accommodates the curve of the curb and saved me some money.

If it is a problem then I agree with the responses above. However based on the pictures I don't think you will have a problem. Your curb looks a lot like mine and I only scrape the air dam on the way out of the driveway at an angle. Entering the driveway I don't scrape at all.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I am lowered on stock bolts about 3/4 inch

Awesome thanks guys. Worse case there is a product that will help.

Now that I have resolved all the deal breakers with a DD C7 I only have to convince myself that my dream car is worth it despite not being the most practical choice. Then the fun problem of figuring out which trim and packages I want

Have you considered backing into the driveway, at an angle as well, instead of pulling in forward?

My C5 scrapes a bit when I pull out, but the C7 doesn't. One other possible solution, consider backing in.

Jacs, I have the perfect solution ... park it in my driveway where it won't scrape at all. I will keep the battery charged by driving it at least two times per week, and make sure you don't have carbon buildup in the engine by making sure it will still do 0-60 in less than 4 seconds. You can come by and drive it whenever you want .... I will even keep it sparkling clean!

Seriously, enjoy your ride and I hope your driveway issues don't cause major problems for you!
