I am trying to get used to the 7 speed..When down shifting from highway speed in 7th do you go down to 6th or 4th. Thanks

As long as you don't lug or overrev the engine, use whatever gear(s) you want....

Over rev is bad. Take a look in your owner's manual for safe speeds for each gear. Unless you're speed/rpms have dropped quite a bit while in 7th, 4th would probably not be optimum.

When I'm in any manual transmission car and I'm coming off the highway I simply leave it whatever gear it was in, until the engine is just a tick above idle speed, and then I put it in neutral as I come to a stop. No need to downshift at all to slow down, that just creates extra wear on the transmission and clutch. I'd rather put that extra wear into a lower cost item such as brakes.

I agree Patman. What's the point in down shifting unless of course there is a Mustang along side of you asking for a little whipping.
