send me a PM and I'll send you some stuff on blackfire. It is the easiest detailing product I've used in the past few years and it lasts a long time...read this:

Yes, great stuff! I have a tub of the Midnight Sun that has lasted me forever. It goes on and wipes off easily. The shine is great!

Just make sure you prep the surface prior, e.g., swirls removed, clayed, etc.

Been using Blackfire on my black C7. I've been really happy with it. I also just did my wife's black Navigator with Crystal Seal and it looks amazing. It brought out depth in the paint I'd never noticed before.

It's all in the polish, not the wax...for any product.....try BF total polish and seal first....

I ordered a bunch of blackfire products in prep for my new Stingray (which I'm frustratingly still waiting for even though I was told it would be ready in October...and then November...And then by Christmas...). In the meantime I tried it out on my truck and was very pleased. My truck (07 Silverado Crew cab) was a bit of a project because it has so much surface area and I'm only about 5'9" so there are some hard to reach areas. I washed it with dawn to remove any previous waxes or finishing products (though it had been so long since I've done anything to it, it was probably pretty stripped anyways). I then "clayed" it with a speedy prep sponge. I used an orbital polisher to put on the blackfire total polish and seal and used a microfiber cloth to wipe off each section as I applied it. I was pretty happy with the results. As I mentioned, I haven't taken great care of the paint on my truck, but the TPnS really made it shine. The truck is all black and the polish and seal took out all of the swirling. I have some deeper blemishes that it couldn't take care of, but I think it actually improved the look of some of those as well even if it didn't take them all out.

After the polish and seal, I followed up with blackfire crystal seal. It added a little extra shine and I imagine it will help protect the paint. But the biggest improvement in looks came from the total polish and seal. That said, the crystal seal was hands down the easiest and quickest step in the process.

I had also bought the blackfire wet diamond all finish paint protection, but decided against using it on the truck because as I said, the huge surface area combined with the dirtiness of the truck was pretty slow going on the wash/clay and so I didn't really feel like adding an extra layer.

So all in all, I was pretty happy with the results. I live in the Seattle area though, and I wasn't overly impressed with the water beading. So I ordered the blackfire blackice montan hybrid wax (it was on special for Christmas). I'll be excited to use that and see how it works, I've heard nothing but amazing things about it. Glen e turned me onto blackfire products and he swears by sealants only over waxes, but living in a wet climate, I still think wax will offer some benefits that just the sealants don't. The blackice wax is specially formulated to work well with their other products, and claims incredible durability compared to other high end carnauba waxes (blackfire claims it will last 6 months, I'm excited to test that ).

great info...there is much written about sealants vs waxes and beading on the detailing sites ...many sealants don't "bead" like waxes, but the protection is still there...They "sheet" the water off instead, so you can't use beading as an test as to the protection....

also the TPNS+CS combo I recommended is for a new car, a older car needs a stronger polish and pad for the car to really gloss well and the CS to work...oxidized surfaces of 1-2-3 year old cars require a SRC polish to set up the reflectivity....

Yeah, I've read up about "beading" vs "sheeting". I probably shouldn't have used the term "bead". What I really meant was that I wasn't totally happy with how the truck looked after I drove in wet weather and then let it air dry. I've seen better results with wax. I have no doubt that the paint is being adequately protected. And don't get me wrong...it still looks much better than before. I just wanted to try out the blackice and see how it handled our dreary weather.

Thanks for the tip on the SRC polish. I wasn't really expecting the TPnS to even work as well as it did on my truck...I just got a big ole box of goodies (the orbital polisher that I used included) and couldn't wait to get my new car to try them out :-). Plus I wanted to make sure my application methods were sound before trying them out on a brand new car. I may end up getting an SRC polish for next time I work on my truck.

When the new stingray comes in though, she'll get the full treatment: 2 bucket wash, fine grade speedy prep clay sponge, TPnS, Wet Diamond, BlackICE hybrid wax. I think I'll skip the crystal seal on the initial application as I've read that when used with both Wet Diamond and the BlackICE wax, it's kinda overkill and doesn't really add any to looks or durability. I'll probably use it in between details when I feel like it needs a refresher. And when I don't feel like messing with a wax (assuming I like the wax enough to keep using it....which I can't imagine not).

I think Blackfire is one of the best products for car detailing I have ever used. Bought from AutoGeek forum dealer on this site.

Just curious as to what would happen if you didn't clay (not sure why one would need to one a brand new car). Polish I understand, then wax.
