Just make sure you prep the surface prior, e.g., swirls removed, clayed, etc.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
After the polish and seal, I followed up with blackfire crystal seal. It added a little extra shine and I imagine it will help protect the paint. But the biggest improvement in looks came from the total polish and seal. That said, the crystal seal was hands down the easiest and quickest step in the process.
I had also bought the blackfire wet diamond all finish paint protection, but decided against using it on the truck because as I said, the huge surface area combined with the dirtiness of the truck was pretty slow going on the wash/clay and so I didn't really feel like adding an extra layer.
So all in all, I was pretty happy with the results. I live in the Seattle area though, and I wasn't overly impressed with the water beading. So I ordered the blackfire blackice montan hybrid wax (it was on special for Christmas). I'll be excited to use that and see how it works, I've heard nothing but amazing things about it. Glen e turned me onto blackfire products and he swears by sealants only over waxes, but living in a wet climate, I still think wax will offer some benefits that just the sealants don't. The blackice wax is specially formulated to work well with their other products, and claims incredible durability compared to other high end carnauba waxes (blackfire claims it will last 6 months, I'm excited to test that
also the TPNS+CS combo I recommended is for a new car, a older car needs a stronger polish and pad for the car to really gloss well and the CS to work...oxidized surfaces of 1-2-3 year old cars require a SRC polish to set up the reflectivity....

Thanks for the tip on the SRC polish. I wasn't really expecting the TPnS to even work as well as it did on my truck...I just got a big ole box of goodies (the orbital polisher that I used included) and couldn't wait to get my new car to try them out :-). Plus I wanted to make sure my application methods were sound before trying them out on a brand new car. I may end up getting an SRC polish for next time I work on my truck.
When the new stingray comes in though, she'll get the full treatment: 2 bucket wash, fine grade speedy prep clay sponge, TPnS, Wet Diamond, BlackICE hybrid wax. I think I'll skip the crystal seal on the initial application as I've read that when used with both Wet Diamond and the BlackICE wax, it's kinda overkill and doesn't really add any to looks or durability. I'll probably use it in between details when I feel like it needs a refresher. And when I don't feel like messing with a wax (assuming I like the wax enough to keep using it....which I can't imagine not).
