Default Front Air Dam

Are both base and Z51 models equipped with a front air dam? Any negative effect on handling below 100 mph if not installed?

base goes all the way across, z51 has just small ones in front of wheels...took mine off base and no problem to 120...fastest I've gone...

I thought the base air dam was designed for air flow for the cooling system, not down force.

Try to figure this one out.
Z51 is missing the center piece which is designed to work in conjunction with the rear spoiler.
Base has the corner pieces and the middle piece
Base with the optional installed Z51 spoiler has the corner pieces and the middle piece.
Does this mean that the rear spoiler is unsafe in the non Z51
or that there is no reason to delete the center piece in the Z51
Hope this helped.

I didn't put the center piece back on mine when I got it back from the factory. If the Z51 runs cooler without it, I figured my non-Z51 would run cooler without it too.

Well if your car had all the optional Z51 coolers, it might.

I took off all three of them on my car too. Im not a racer and find it hard to believe that there are that many people this concerned about the heat build up due to the part missing. In my case I did it as my driveway is steep and it rubs pretty bad. I'm also hoping that some items on the road will now clear without hitting that piece. It does look a lot cleaner in the front with out it.
