Default Test drive?

Considering a new stingray. I have gotten to see and sit in a few at local dealer, but no cars available for a test drive. Kind of hesitant to buy a car without a drive. I'm sure if I waited a year or two that would be an option. Have most ordered / bought without a test drive ?

Never drove one, I had a c6 before so I kind of knew how it would drive. But if I was a first time vette owner I would of definitely drive one before throwing down 50-70 grand on a car.

One dealer wouldn't let me test drive so I didn't buy from them. For the price of this car, you should be able to test drive. Another dealer simply asked for a pay stub or credit check to make sure I could actually afford this car vs. just being someone who wanted to test drive for fun.

Hell, the 1st several thousand of us ordered the car without having even seen one in real life. I ordered mine the middle of June, and it's been built and shipped but it hasn't been delivered yet. If I hadn't gone to see my buddies when he took delivery of his, I still wouldn't have seen one yet.

Very few of the first 9,000+ buyers so far had a test drive.

I agree with being hesitant but a lot of people just want to drive them for the thrill and to say hey I got to drive a vette and walk out smiling and I think that ruins it for everyone else, its not just chevy though, most other cars like to keep their flagships parked until purchased.

If you know anyone that has a c7 just sweet talk them into a drive.

edit: also everytime I visited my local stealerships in town the cars that were on the floor were sold already so a lot of the cars coming in are presold before they hit the showroom

I know how you feel but without getting to melodramatic I depended on the reputation to help me pull the trigger. I'm currently deployed to the Middle East so a test drive was not an option and I didn't want to wait a second longer given the wait time. But I've never driven a car with 460HP AND 460 FPOT but I'm sure it's going to be one hell of a ride. It's the Heart Beat of America what could go wrong. Just get used to saying "No officer I don't know how fast I was going.

It goes 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and handles like it's on rails.
There, now you don't need a test drive anymore.
Just go buy one!

I ordered mine in April. I'd only seen photos and never one in person until Lola arrived October 11th. I paid for her the day before so I could drive away as soon as she was made ready.

I've owned over a 100 cars lifetime and she's my 1st Vette. It just felt right to place the order and have faith. It's been that way since delivery and I drive her every day the weather's good enough.

Go to a dealership and drive a C6. If you like it, take all our words for it, the C7 is a much better drive than the C6. Be sure and take a blank check so you can give the dealer a deposit.

I waited until I could drive the car before I ordered one, small dealer with allocation, ordered on on the spot, still waiting for GM to pick it up.

I've never even owned a new car before. Never driven anything hi performance before and had to go through a local Canadian dealer. The had gotten one in that was there overnight waiting for the owner that I got to peek at. Wasn't allowed to even open the doors though, never mind sit in or take a test drive before I placed my order. Ordered in October and still waiting. I will pay for my car before I drive it then drive off and never look back.

If I had the car out on a test drive I don't know if I could have the willpower to take it back and hand back the keys...

Test drive a c6 and then realize the c7 is an exciting evolution.

I'll be until spring for most dealers will have test drives available.

I do know that many Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin owners ere invited to a half a day driving experience both on the road and on the track.....for free...

All were emphatically impressed and quite a few have a c7 z51 now on order.

It's that much better than anything gm has done before.

And I am using my c6 z51 m6 as a daily driver.

My first drive in a C7 was as I drove mine off the lot. I figured it couldn't be worse than my C6 and was most likely to be much better. It was and is.

I agree. If you have owned any of the C4 C5 or C6 generations you will LOVE this car. It is better in every way than the prior generations. I loved each of them as I had them, but this one is clearly special.

One caveat--if you are a large person you should at least sit in one because the C7 drivers area is clearly smaller than my prior Corvettes.

Most "Exotic Car Rental" places will have them soon - if you are able to wait. Rent one for the day and then decide.

Give it about 6 more months and they will be sitting on the lot...

Its just a vette, not a vintage Ferrari. Test drives will be easy in 6 months if not already, at some dealers.

I ordered one before ever sitting or seeing one in person! I saw that the interior dimensions were almost identical to the C6 and with me being 6'4" tall I sat in one just to feel better about the headroom! About a month after putting a deposit down I did get to sit in a C7 and verified that I would fit! This is my first Corvette, so when mine finally arrives I imagine that first time starting it and driving off the lot will be a really great experience!
