Default z 51 ride

I heard that the Z 51 is really stiff riding.. , which makes sense,... and for the average daily driver it's not recommended . but the very nice package is reasonable, some decisions to make down the road. .........I'll probably be waiting another year to pull the trigger.

I have the Z-51 with the magnetic ride and could not be happier with comfort on the interstate while stiffening up cornering aggressively! Even in track mode!

The Z51 with magnetic ride in tour mode is very nice ride, quite comfortable! In track mode on a rough street it will jar your teeth! On a smooth race track(Putnam Park) the car feels incredible!

I believe this is likely only an issue (if at all) with a non-MRC Z51 car.

I have a Z51 without MRC and it's not stiff at all. I've rode in a C7 with it, and to me, not much difference. I can tell you whichever one you pick, the car is tight handling, just the way a sports car should be...

Default Another Z51 Mag ride question

If this has already been posted, my apologies. But I haven't been able to find this comparison.

Is the Z51 MRC in track mode stiffer riding than the non-MRC or is the ride the same?

Maybe improvements have been made in the current version but I was not impressed with the MRC in my 2003 AE coupe.
Thanks,
Tom

Great input, thanks, Sounds like the MRC/Z51 is fine, the way a vette should be.

The c6 ZR1 has the best ride of the c6 generation. Has anyone with the C7 Z51 had experience with both cars and could compare the ride of the ZR1 and C7 Z51?

Thanks. Any others that could speak on this from experience?

Which ride mode of the MRC would the non-MRC Z51 be equivalent to?

I think for me the Z51 even without MRC would be great as I like a firm ride... period.

I'm surprised you say MRC didn't make much difference because reports from most MRC owners is that there is a significant difference from touring mode to sport to track on MRC equipped cars. This is also suggested in reviews I have read. Interesting that you didn't notice much difference... I wonder if that is because you were the passenger (with a different perception than the driver) or were you guys not testing the various settings? If I were betting, I would be betting that MRC in Sport mode might be similar in firmness to the Z51 w/o MRC... pure speculation.

Shhhhhh, you'll upset non-Z51 owners with those words.

All three of my 'Vettes have Z51: '84, '05, & '14. Needless to say the '84 rides really rough, but the '05 and '14 are really comparable and neither have MRC. The ride is a little stiff, but that's what I expected and prefer. I had an '03 convert with the MRC and could really tell no difference between modes; others have made similar posts as well, so I'm not sure why that would be-if our particular cars had a defect or something? There should have been a noticeable difference. I'm fine with what I ordered.

I have a C7 Z51 with MRC and the ride is fantastic! The ride in touring mode is very smooth and Sport mode is still very accommodating, but gives you the handling and feel that you expect. I think the MRC mitigates all "ride" factors.

All you guys with '03 vettes with MRC, remember that was the very first use of that technology. They are now on Gen 3. The Gen 2 on my '13 427 convertible (which basically has the ZR1 suspension with MRC,) works great but still only has two ride settings. Even at that, the MRC really controls the suspension over the bump, which makes driving on less than perfect surfaces much better than the wife's '06 Z51. Ferrari was so impressed that they licensed the Gen 2 system for use on their cars.

The Gen 3 system with three ride settings (tour, sport, and track) is supposed to be even better I would have bought the MRC if it was a standalone option, but had no desire for the rest of the Z51 package.
