Dashcam Recommendations
.In the past five years, I've come back to my cars missing an entire side mirror, a shattered side window (only thing stolen was a can of coke when I had a GPS mounted right on the windshield
), had to pay out of pocket when a guy sideswiped me leaving his parking spot and I couldn't prove it, and had a 17 year old girl blow a stop sign and caused 12k worth of damage (thankfully her insurance paid for everything even though she initially tried to blame it on me, thankfully a great guy who saw the whole thing was willing to act as a witness). So ultimately, when I take delivery of my C7 one of the first things I want to slap on her is a dashcam. I plan to use it as a daily driver and quite frankly I don't have much faith in the driving ability of the average American. Unfortunately, I haven't really seen any that seem to meet all of my criteria, so hoping someone else already has!
1) Record both front and rear
2) Decent enough quality to catch license plates
3) Has a parking mode that can catch at least 8 hours of footage while parked
4) The smaller the better
Don't care about the price too much, so does anyone know of anything that fits the bill? The Scepter CCR2000 doesn't seem too bad, with the exception being that it only records front video and looks fairly massive. I found a thread recommending GoPros but they have no parking mode. Anyone using one of these things and know of a good one?

Front and back HD cameras, motion sensitive, and very full featured. I just picked up my car yesterday so I need to get on this... and a radar detector...
You can use the power magic pro from blackvue with any camera to prevent too much battery drain.

.Kind of pricy @ 500, but after youtubing some sample footage I'm sold. Looks like it even catches license plates decently at night, and meets all my criteria. I'll go with this one then, thanks!

You need:
HD to read tags
no LED illumination, they are useless
no screen, makes it bigger and are useless-set it up once and forget about it
use a separate camera for front and read. The all in one will not have HD both front and back. If they advertise HD it will only be if you are using one camera.
Get a power supply for these cameras- they will shut off the camera if battery voltage gets low so you won't drain your battery. Some have provisions for 2 cameras with switches to set min battery voltage and whether you want park feature on or off.
Get built in GPS
Get Parking feature
Get knock sensor (acceleromter in various axis)
8 gig data card will hold 1 day. Get 32 data card
