I've got the A6 on my new TR Z51 Convertible, just as I did on my C6 Z51 and I prefer the new C7 A6 over the C6 A6. The paddle shifters are improved by being simplified. The left paddle is for downshift only and the right paddle is for upshift only. Now it's very easy to commit to muscle memory. Shift points are improved, especially in the Sport mode and Track mode.
I've driven the new M7 and was very impressed with the rev match and it had the right feel when shifting.
If you know how to drive a manual, like driving manuals, and don't drive mainly in stop and go traffic or in San Francisco hills, it seems like a no brainer. A manual is going to be a lot more fun to drive.
i went back and forth on this for a month. Was 100% going with manual and then at the very end, changed to the A6. I now have by C7 and my wife and i took it out today with top off (coupe). Nice day in Houston. What i like about the A6 is i can drive, drink my coffee and have my hand on my wife's leg without having to continuously keep moving back and forth to change gears. My decision came down to 80% of the time, i will want to relax and chill out while i drive, 20% of the time i would want to shift and play around. For the 20% of the time, the paddle shifters give me that excitement. All you do is keep your two hands on the wheel and the paddles stay in the same spot as you drive and turn, so not sure why some are having a hard time figuring it out. Right is to upshift, left is to downshift. It would suck if the paddles were not connected to the wheel cause then you would have to remove your hands from the wheel to go to the shifter. Manual is fun, but the 80% of the time that i would not want it, made me go with A6.
Granted I'm biased as I refuse to own a car that isn't a manual; but I would urge anyone on the fence to go for the M7 as it is the best shifting stock trans I've felt in a corvette yet. The rev match is fun to use but not required.
I amordering now. (Just sent my deposit). I have a C6 manual and tried to convince myself to go auto. Couldn't do it. Ordering M7. If I lived in an urban environment and daily drive in traffic, it would be an A6. I am suburban to rural. Love the stick!
I agree 100%, I have GS with paddle, sold Z to get it. absolutly loved the paddle, at first, then I noticed I always had to decide to shift or not to shift, found myself tired of making that decision. Still have GS but took delievery of stick C7 2 weeks ago, so from my position as of right now I love my decision to go back to to stick EEEZZZZ to drive. And It's always in stick mode, meaning no decisions, just drive it. I really did love the paddles and told all nay sayers, "oh no, your wrong, paddles the only way to go" Well I like the shifting and particulary the total control of car is back. My $.02 worth

The A6 with paddles was "ok" and that's about the best I could say about it. Certainly not the same as a stick - sluggish and not the tight control one gets with a clutch. Drove my wife's ZO6 frequently anyway
I had an 04 and an 07, both manual. Sold the 07 and bought a Camaro SS with paddle shift thinking I'd enjoy the car more without hassle of shifting in traffic, I haven't. Time for another Vette and back to manual.
I have driven my 2005 manual since it was new and still like changing gears manually BUT I do not drive in traffic much and if I did I would definitely want an automatic!
