Shuffle not working

Shuffle not working
GM Customer Service:
My VIN last 5 is 03028, so I am guessing my C-7 was the 3028 unit built? Can you please provide the birthdate!
Second when I install my Apple Shuffle it plays about five words of the song and quits. I spoke to the Service manager at the Local Chevy dealer and he said that the USB ports do not provide power, so the shuffle will not work! He suggested I loaded my songs on a memory stick! I did and it works fine! I was just curious why if the manual says the Shuffle will work, why it doesn't?
Also, is my Vette one of the units that needs the software update?

P.S. As an owner of 9 Corvettes over the past 40 years I must say GM has built the best one ever in this C-7. LOVE IT!!

I have a charged battery on my ipod shuffle so I would assume that it does not need power from the USB, but my new C7 doesn't even recognize that it is there when I plug into the USB outlet. What is that all about? anybody know?
By the way, my iphone pairs just fine in the system and i play pandora through it with no problem, but all my songs are on the shuffle. I noticed that the C7 will not recognize apple lossless (high resolution) files, so I redid my whole playlist to 128 bits and that still doesn't help.
We tried my wife's ipod nano in the car and it doesn't work either, although at least the system shows that a USB device is plugged in, which is more than I get with the shuffle.
Her ipod classic works fine, though.

many apple products get confused - they need to be running the latest upgrade apple has...I have even then seen a few never work. if your ipod classic works, it's the other apple products...
