This was a base silver wheel - had to tell the difference at first glance.

Andrew, what do you see in the machined wheel that looks better than the base wheel?
That machined wheel sure does not look like the one they show in the brochure. I would have really felt ripped-off if I ordered the machined wheels thinking I was going to get what they show in the brochure, a wheel that looks machined and not painted like the base wheel.
yours seem to have a more metallic look to them while mine are just a painted grey look. They really should of offered a black painted wheel at no extra charge imo.
The Vette machined wheel is a farce...because they did not do what machined wheels are designed for: the face is polished and in between is blacked or greyed out to make the spoke pop. They forgot that, so you have a wheel that looks like the painted one from 15 feet away. This is a true machined wheel:

Bmbarny's base wheel picture in post #6 looks like it has just as much metallic to me. Even if the machined wheel were tintcoated, it sure not worth an extra $1500. I like your idea about black 5 spoke wheels.
