'cept you lose window indexing, seat, mirror and radio mems every time, no? Unless the memories in the C7 are non-volatile?
I have disconnected mine about 5 times in the past 3 days, working on my steering wheel - twice overnight. And all I lose is what radio station it comes on at, (not the favorites) and window indexing - which means you roll the window down and back up. Everything else is non volatile...
that's it ...disconnect is very viable...But only if you are 100% charged...and also, remember before you shut down for the winter, you save your settings via USB, and everything works with a update in 15 secs when you reconnect...
Personally, I'd throw the whole ctek charger thing out the window....and install this:

With the cost of EEPROM being so cheap and write cycle limits being so much greater now, that is good to hear
i used a battery tender for 3 winters, in upstate n.y. never had a dead battery. now that i know what the battery package is. its the battery tender for me. thanks for all the replys...
My C6 is on it's 4th upstate NY winter with a battery tender using the cigarette lighter socket. No issues ever. I don't bother with it during the summer months because I am driving my car, but the tender sure helps when there is down time.
BTW, I did order the battery protection package with my C7. Hopefully the Stingray will be around about the time winter departs.
I've used the CTEK 3300 for years and it works great! It's sealed for outdoor use, features reverse-polarity protection, and has Desulfication, Bulk Charge, Absorption and Pulse modes.

What is the difference between the CTEK 3300 & 4.3? Retail (Amazon) there seems to be only a $3 difference in price? In looking at the specs the 4.3 seems better - am I missing some advantage the 3300 has?

The 4.3 is a new model and (from what I remember) wasn't available when I purchased my 3300 a few years ago. You are correct, the 4.3 does appear to have better specs. Given the choice, and being similarly priced, I would go with the 4.3.
I actually changed my mind on this after visiting Mike Furman at Criswell's where mine will be ordered in the next few weeks. According to Mike, there are 18 things on the C7 that continue to draw power when it's just sitting in the garage. For $100, it's really a no-brainer for me. Plugs into a power tap/cigarette lighter thingy in the right rear above the battery.
How do you run the wire to the external power source? Can you just gently close hatch on it or do you have to run it out a window?
I noticed when I bought mine that it didn't come with the battery protection package on the sticker. When I picked the car up, however, the charger was in the well in the rear of the car. Interesting.
I payed $8.00 for mine and have used them outside for over 12 years for my C5's and never had a problem. Just hook the two terminals onto the battery and didn't latch the hood and put my car cover on; can't get any easier or cheaper then that!

Yup using a harbor freight on C5 right now. Never any problems charging Red Tops
I have been using my Deltran Battery Tender Plus for each of my previous three C6's with excellent results through the long MN winters. I plan on ordering the cigarette lighter adaptor and continue using the same battery tender system for my future C7.
