Is there a web site that shows the Corvette assembly line? Reason for asking is...a friend is having his Convertible made the week of the 9th. and wanted to know if he could see it being made or see it going down the line.

I thought this was a new cable tv channel. Oh, well.

Cheers.

Two things they should do to improve the experience. One, live web cam feeds on the assembly line. Two, mic the owners when they see the car for the first time in the delivery area so it can be seen and heard over the web. Of course they are going to need someone with the finger on the "Bleep" button. I just just see/hear it. "Holy F$%#ing s*&t!!!! Translated to Holy Bleep..Bleep.

I think this is a great idea. Someone with pull should tell the plant manager at Bowling Green to install a webcam at the end of the line where the car is driven off for testing.

Like any modern assy line there are surely a multitude of cameras going full time. But showing them to us would drastically cut the profits of the museum from tours and the album. We'll never see the feed from those cameras.

I doubt that. The video would not stop me going to the museum. I would, in fact, maintain that the museum should be free anyway. Look at BMW. You can pick up your car from their South Carolina factory and see the museum. No extra cost, except you have to pay your own way down there. They even throw in a hi-po driving course, free meal and hotel room the night before. Pretty much the same thing if you opt to do European delivery, although the logistics are more complicated.

This is true. But not for the reasons you state. The reason is no manufacturer would want others to record how they do things. This is the same reason they don't even allow buyers to have recorders in their factory.

Cheers.

I agree with the first part. I would still do museum delivery.

I can't agree with your comments comparing NCM with the BMW factory delivery, however. The BMW operation is all corporate-owned whereas the NCM is not part of GM. It is a non-profit organization. If you read the history of how and why it was created, you would understand. It started out as a record repository for Corvette collectors and expanded into something much more. You can learn more about it on the website. The Museum is self-sustaining. That is one of the reasons for the raffles and other fund-raising enterprises.

See you on the road.

Ok, good point. I didn't know that the museum was a non-profit.

But the factory is corporate owned and I still feel that the video won't be public because of the reasons stated.

BTW, my first post in this thread, the one about a cable tv channel, was sarcasm. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously, only humorously.

Cheers.
