I think my deal was fair. I compared the online ranges with what the dealer was offering, and found that it was about in the middle. My state allows the trade-in value to be deducted from the purchase price for tax purposes, so I saved a couple of grand from that. The, coupled with the ease of doing a trade-in, it was worth it to me. (I traded back in October.)
You are never going to get full market value when you trade in ANY car let alone a Corvette. The dealer HAS to take it in at wholesale and then run it thru the shop, no matter what shape you think it's in if he plans on putting it on his lot for resale and then price it at full market value. Thats the way of it.....If you live in an area where there are not alot of Vettes, you might want to try to sell it yourself.....if you want to go thru the hassle for the 2 or maybe 3 grand more you'll get. Remember you LOOSE the trade in value which saves on the sales tax.....
My Forum dealer did a pretty good job giving me a fair price on my trade. He was right on the KBB/Edmunds numbers for the high end of the trade in price.
Now, it may help that this is not my first car with him and as of now he's selling the C7's for MSRP. I'm sure if the Z51's were being discounted they would be more frugal about what they pay for trades as well.
I think it all depends on the money they make at the end of the day.

Yep. Dealers buy at the whoesale price, and sell at retail.
I went to one of the top 10 Corvette dealers in the country. They gave me $2000 more for my trade than any of the local dealers would give. This was in addition to the $2000 discount. They also had a lower doc fee of $199 (still a rip off) but had a $198 on my GM card. Overall very happy.
On a side note...many of the forum dealers who are discounting the C7 are putting less money than what is fair on the trade in.
One dealer near here is a high volume Corvette dealer. We checked with them first. We were a little disappointed with their trade in offer. They told us that the C7's were so popular that they were overstocked with C6 trades and just didn't need any more.
We went to a smaller dealer that had allocation and they gave us $2,500 more for our trade than the high volume dealer.

Question. Why trade in your C6, as opposed to selling it? Kelley Blue Book Trade In price on my former 2008 LT1 Coupe was only $23,400. Sold her in 2 weeks time for $27,000, with 2 other buyers in line. There is nothing quite like a new C7 sitting along side your C6 to explain to a prospective buyer "why" you are selling your C6.
