Default Decision time...

Ok, I am ready to order - as soon as GM will take my order that is... BUT I am still on the fence about wheels and top. It's between cf top n black wheels and body color top and chrome wheels.

I like tend to like the cf top and black wheels a bit more than the body color top and chrome wheels but the car will be a DD and I suspect chrome cheels will hold up better than the black.

One day its body color top and chrome, the next it's cf top n black wheels... (how many know the feeling?)

Opinions solicited...

Thanks!

Body color top will not have constraint issues. Either way black rims 1000%.

I've gotten really tired of chrome. Had them on my C5 and on my C6 and on my wife's 2010 SRX. Her latest SRX has "Midnight Silver painted wheels and my C7 (built but not yet delivered) has black wheels (and the visible carbon fiber roof).

What color are you going with. Mine's Laguna Blue.

That will be a fantastic match! Mine will be torch red. Have a black on black C6 and love the color but have to change. Torch red is my other favorite - first Vette was that color. My biggest concern is chips and road abuse making a black wheel look like crap - I drive the h--l out of my cars got 99k on my C6

Torch Red looks great with the black (vents, CF roof and wheels). I think it would be pretty easy to have the painted wheels refinished, if necessary.

I've never gotten a stone chip on my black painted wheels...I'm on my second set in 5 years...yes, I was one of the first... However, it is possible to curb any wheel. The best part about a high gloss painted wheel is it is so easy to touch up! I curbed a front wheel, sanded the damage down, touched it up with gloss black touch up paint, and cannot even find the area without putting my face 6 inches from the wheel. I say go for black.

CF and body colored, which is painted CF have both been on constraint. For a time the transparent roof option was all you could order. The body colored roof is still on constraint but it's got a pretty high availability. The CF roof looks great but I'm not convinced it $2000 great.

I wouldn't do chrome, it leaves you with no options and unless you absolutely love chrome and will never want to change don't go that route.

I'm going with silver painted and getting them refinished to a finish that for me is a lot sharper than any of the factory options, hyper silver or black chrome. Either of which will cost me less than the factory black option.

I think it depends on color, lighter color ( mine will be Tr) looks better IMO with black wheels and vis carbon roof - darker colors Crome and painted rood - except for black and cyber gray - black wheels.

Guess my age is showing. I still like the Chromes. I have a Premiere Coupe, so the chromes were part of it.
I had a Centennial Z06 and loved the black, too. But my wife helps by keeping the rims clean, and she likes chrome. Nuff said.

OP,

It's all on you. No one can advise you to your specific tastes in a new Corvette.

I'd go with painted roof and silver painted wheels.

I haven't gone through the entire Thread, but here is what I think in a nutshell. The two things you listed, Top and Wheels, can be changed after you buy the Car if you end up not liking your original choices.

My C7 was a Dealer Stock Car. It's CGM and came with the Silver Wheels. I have been going back and forth trying to decide if I wanted the Black Wheels instead, since I'm going for a certain "stealthy" look for the Car...

I decided today to bite the bullet and will be getting the Wheels Powder Coated next week, which coincidentally will end up costing me the same amount Chevy wanted for that Option, $495...

You can also have your Wheels Chromed or do a Wheel swap for what Chevy would Charge you for the Chrome Wheel Option.

One piece of advice, if you are on the fence about the Visible Carbon Fiber Top and money isn't the issue, order it anyway. If you decide you don't like it, there will be a whole bunch of other owners that will swap their Solid Color Tops with you and they will pay you for the trouble, me included if your Car is CGM.

Just my $.02...

I got mine with the body color top and then purchased a transparent top for $850 from a guy that got the dual roof but didn't want it.

I've got the black rims and they do get chocolate colored after about a week. Today I'm going to apply some of the Armour All rim protectant to see if it repels brake dust as it claims.

I'd say if you are in a hurry you can simply order what is needed to get through constraints then go vendor, GM or private party to get what you wanted after you get your car.

Do you have pics? Is that all from the brake dust? Are there better pads that can be installed to limit the dust?

Good call on both to much black going on like the tr but will go NRB because of all the black scoops on the car. I hate 2 tone black on rear bla. Really like the red though hope I can afford the z06 when she gets here retired wife wants me to quit buying cars. Again I like the red

Can't believe they are not offering a gray wheel. I would order them silver paint and have them refinished in a comp gray color I liked the best. Some of the other cars out there have some really good comp gray color wheels. I really don't like black wheels but I detest chrome.

I just had to have the exposed CF top and Black wheels.

However the Exposed CF is some what constrained.
