Was the replacement an OEM windshield? I see you used Safelite. Did you get a choice?
Safelight uses OEM glass. In many cases they will remove the GM mark as they did on my C6 Z06 but if you looked close at the glass, you could see where it said GM and was removed. Not sure why they do that but they do. My dealer uses them as well even for warranty replacements.
I asked that before setting the appointment... Yes i had a choice. The cost difference was nil - to me. The cost was absorbed by insurance. I don't know the differential.... SAFELITE is contracted by my Insurance- but i could have gone anywhere.
The choices were the "non-GM" and "GM". THe only difference was the "GM" marking in the corner. The glass vendor is the GM supplier...
So, we get the same product- marked GM or not marked GM. Weird
I wanted the "GM" mark so that is what they gave me. But SAFELITE swears the "other glass" is the same exact thing, from the same manufacturer, just missing the mark.
Either way, Im glad to have a whole car again IT was killing me to see that crack!

Did Safelight make comment about increased difficulty to replace your windshield?
During a BG VIP plant tour ... our tour guide stressed that the C7 windshield "glue job" was no ordinary glue job, as we have known in the past, making it very difficult to remove the broken glass.
So difficult, he said, that when a rear windshield was broken that the preferred remedy was to replace the whole frame with glass! I really wonder about that! ... You would then also have a paint matching issue, which in my view would dictate picking the glass out no matter how difficult ... ???

Did you fill out the forms for diminished value or threaten GM that you want a new car??? You better do that before all the idiots chime in with that as a serious post!
The job was done by two techs..one owns a Z06 so he appreciated the car. But all in all they arrived at 9:40 am and left at 11:30 so couldn't have been too difficult.... they didn't say anything

Good to know. I've had three rocks hit and chip my windshield already. I was thinking about having it replaced. But I know my insurance isn't going to cover it until it's cracked.
I wish they'd finish the damn construction on the 405 already. It's been years now.
Did they do any water tests to make sure they got the weather stripping and a-pillar trim back on correctly? Check for drips at the bottom of each a-pillar or wet carpet. If the tech doesn't know exactly what he or she is doing there is a high probability for leaks.
Anyone out there use Diamon-Fusion on their windshield? Saw this being applied by dealer to a customer's delivery at Museum. Claim is that it helps the glass deflect rocks, etc.

I replaced the windshield on my '03 with HUD, my cost on a HUD shield was $700 installed, that's my cost (I get wholesale prices) regular price $1000.......without HUD $280 (my cost) and honestly the difference was barely noticeable....if I have to change out the shield in this car I will probably do the same seeing as how I rarely use HUD.
Yeah you don't need a "HUD" windshield for it to work... still works fine, but the HUD glass has a special coating in it to improve performance. Also, GM doesn't make the glass... so you can get OEM quality glass w/o the GM stamp on it.

I'm in OC. I have to run up the 405 to Westlake Village in a couple of weeks. Three rocks, now you're making me paranoid.

Also true for my 2011 ZR1 when it was just 5 months old when Safelite did the replacement. Very happy with Safelite.
