Default Cyber Gray Convertible rear 1/4 panel paint doesn't match?!

I was at my local dealer a few weeks back and they had a CG Vert in the showroom. From 15 feet away I noticed something didn't look right about the paint match on the rear 1/4 panel. Now I've seen pics of other CG Verts and they have the same issue. I can only assume those panels get painted at different times.

For this reason I personally wouldn't get a CG Vert!

Any other colors affected?

The panels are painted separately prior to assembly. My C6 you could see different paint flow between panels (the orange peel wasn't consistant) paint did match. The owner can request warranty work to fix match, no guarantee end result will be good. Purchase car at a reduced price, car is already blemished so you don't have to worry about first mark.

I sometimes wonder if there is a frequent mismatch with the light grey/gunmetal colors.
My '12 GT-R is gun metal grey, and it has a slight mismatch on a panel or two. My wife's '12 QX56 also has a mismatch on the front bumper cover and is also grey. Because I wouldn't want the cars dismantled and painted, I've never asked Nissan to address it.

Many Cyber Gray coupes appear to have a color shift where the doors meet the fenders. It could be related to whatever angle the panels are mounted at on the dolly during the painting process. The coarse silver and blue flakes in the CG paint might set up differently during curing depending on gravity. This could be one reason why this unique and popular color is being replaced by the more generic Shark gray for 2015.

Is my door darker? Could be the angle/lighting

I was told this is one reason they are replacing CBG. Its hard to deal with and its not even a premium upgraded color from BG. I have it and love it my car looks perfect other than the front bumper is clear bra & it change the reflection so it looks a little off now. Not a big deal for me and 95% people wont notice + once we remove the film all would be good. ..

My 09 Cyber Gray has a near perfect color/panel match, and very low amount of orange peal. A friend has a new Crystal Red Metallic C7 and the hood is a color mismatch to the remainder of the car. Another friend has a new Torch Red C7 and all his panels color match up.

I find it odd that GM ran Cyber Gray for six years on the Corvette if it was such a hard color to paint. I believe the same color is also used on other GM products.

That should be obvious to anyone paying attention. Doesn't GM have QC inspectors that carefully look over each car before it ships? If so, it looks like they missed this one, or it was late on a Friday afternoon and the inspector was more concerned about finishing for the day and heading home for the weekend.

That Aventador makes me hard.

Look at that land-yacht challenger in the back, lol.

I just looked at mine, and it was very difficult to determine if there were any differences -- certainly not like the one pictured.

Anyhow, maybe two tone colors are coming back, and some CGs will be ahead of the pack.

Have a CG/RED coupe & really took a very close look today after this post, & can say, without any reservation, that color looks great throughout! Just thought I would add my 0.2 cents!
By the way, absolutely Love my C7!

I don't think I've seen any coupes with the "issue"

I saw one member post pics of his Vert and I saw the same thing.

Any other Vert owners notice the same issue? I was actually planning on getting a Vert when it came out and backed out because I wanted at 15' That was the dealers first Vert so I'm relieved I didn't order one because that would have been mine!
