I went in to work with the assurances from the weather guys that we would only have a "dusting" of snow. Well we have a couple inches and still coming down so I'm about to head on home. Kicker is all my co-workers drive beaters and all stayed home today. Most driving here in Dallas don't know how to handle this...
I lived in Texas a long time ago...and man, for some reason people there seemed to think when it snows or rains it's time to dodge the flakes or drops by going faster. Good luck man.
The weatherman has screwed me over many times. He would advertise 40s and light rain.
So I'd ride my one of my motorcycles to work, then come out afterwards to snow.
Well I made it and my knuckles will turn back pink in a few hours. The car reacted pretty well except for a couple spots where the snow had melted and refroze. No trouble driving and stopping but getting started from a dead stop was interesting. At one light there was a slight incline and I spun the tires with the lightest touch of the accelerator. I have a A6,maybe with a M7 you could start out in a higher gear.
I may just stay home tomorrow... I have a VPN connection w/Remote Desktop so I can work from home as if I was sitting at my desk. But with one 15 inch screen instead of twin 27s.

My Mercedes with a 5 speed auto, has a "winter-summer" rocker switch on the console. In the winter position, first gear is deactivated and the car only downshifts into second gear when coming to a stop and, of course, takes off in second gear. It works great in the winter in snow.
Maybe GM should add a feature to their automatic transmission cars, that does this automatically when ever the temp falls below 35-40 degrees.
I drove around all morning here in Dallas in the snow. I put it in weather mode and drove wisely. I had a couple of spots where the tires spun slightly but, no problems to speak of. I did grow up in Wisconsin with rear wheel drive cars though.

We've been driving our C7 in the snow up here all season as well. The day we did the powdered donuts video was the sketchiest by far. That being said, it's usually not us we have to worry about but the 16 year-old-kid in a Honda Civic doing 70mph who eventually takes us out...

That helps. I was born and raised in Chicago and for 40 years drove every car I ever owned year round including a 1969 Camaro SS396 and a 1970 Corvette. I worry more about the wahoos next to me on the road that have driven in snow 4-5 times total in their life.

Glad you made it home and blood has returned to your knuckles . Just for reference if you need to do it, you can go full manual in the A6 and paddle shift to 2nd gear to start. In ECO it might work pretty swell in the right kind of snow. But I haven't tried it yet, when it snowed here in North Georgia, Lola stayed parked looking out of the garage .

Life's too short to place nice cars and life at risk in this stuff. There's now frozen-over glare ice out there in my subdivision, and a pickup's already left flat and level hitting the AT&T switch box across the street - then fled the scene. I'm just hoping none of 'em leave the roadway into my house.

The W/S rocker that locks out 1st gear and ASR help, but assure nothing on the MBs. BTDT. Still a nightmare navigating a non posi-traction RWD car in the stuff.
