Crazy Allocation
My dealer when to order my car against his allocation in this cycle today....I want FAY Carbon Fiber IP......he got both a coupe and a convertible in this cycle.....he can order the FAY with the convt but not the coupe....come on GM....that's crazy.....the dealer has 1 FAY but can't order it for the customer who wants it while the convt customer doesn't want it. Tell me this make any sense.
I wasn't able to get FAY with my order as well. Fortunately I was able to get the body colored roof which was also constrained. The week if my order I wanted the dual roof option but I was only able to get either the transparent roof or the body color roof, but not both. Interesting how allocations and constraints work.
Convertible dash will be different than coupe's as there is a cutout for the convertible top switch made into it. So guess the manuf hasn't made enough coupe dash parts.

sorry to hear that, we have been placing many orders with the constraints and I appreciate the opportunties...no reason to wait months, we are past the true pieces parts issues, now we just have to manage the quantities for those that have allocation.
Maybe you will have luck next week...the dealer already knwo how many cars for next week, just NOT the constraints!

It sounds as if this particular retailer is making his ordering problem your problem. "allocations", are the dealers problem NOT a buyers. There are literally thousands of Chevrolet dealers out there. Find one that has something close to what you want and avoid all the ordering nonsense that we read about every day here.
The whole constraints thing is still baffling me how long its taking to work it all out. My sympathy to all those are are still waiting.
The constraints/allocations thing is an opportunity for some of the greasier dealers to manipulate buyers and unload their wallets. It is amazing how many are on board with this BS.

My two cents worth, I agree. I ordered my C7 because I really want to do the museum delivery this time and had not found a car with the exact configuration/colors I wanted. Absent the museum delivery I probably would have just found a car that matched pretty close to what I wanted and been done with it. I ordered my C6 in 07 because I could not find the right color combination, there were not constraints or allocation problems to deal with, and I had a GMID discount that Tim Boone at Boardwalk honored. My C5 I found on the lot a couple of hour away and had them deliver to my office. Short answer, if you are not doing museum delivery you can save some headaches, some time, and maybe even some money by finding one on someone's lot.
