My seats do not warm up enough as well. After about 10 minutes they feel warm due to my butt more than the heating elements. The real rub is after about 20 minutes they automatically downshift from Level 3 heat to Level 2 heat.
This is a safety issue. Every Mercedes-Benz I've ever owned had the kick-down function from the high setting in a matter of minutes. The heated seat function has built-in timers or heating parameters to avoid overheating the system. I wouldn't call it "screwy," as some are either....
Mine seems to work ok, build #7035.
I went out and did a test tonight, initial drivers seat temp;
5 minutes on high;
15 minutes on high;
After a 30 minute drive;
Back of seat after 30 minute drive;
Now compare this to my 2007 Yukon, initial;
After 1 minute on high;
After 2 minutes on high;
After 3 minutes on high;
After 5 minutes on high;
The Yukon definitely heats up a lot faster, but I am not sure yet how much hotter the Yukon seats get.
I did not go any longer than 5 minutes on the Yukon and I did not drive it around like I did the Stingray.
I will check the yukon tomorrow after a 15 minute or so drive to see what temp it will reach.

I have not noticed this on mine, not sure this is normal. Will have to look into this further.
Of all of the GM cars and trucks I have owned and worked on I have never seen any of them change settings like that.
After a 15 minute drive to work this morning in the Yukon with the seat on high, I thought my butt was going to catch fire I normally run it on low. My first reading was over 108 degrees...
Heck, I would love to get that kind of heat from ours. I have not taken any temperature readings, but if I did they would probably read pathetic, more pathetic, and most pathetic! I don't know if there is some adjustment that the dealer can perform to increase it, but I am sure going to check into it. Alas, we have had so much snow and cold for this area that the toy hasn't moved from its most revered spot in the garage for over two weeks. I do start every once and awhile to hear the rumble! It's a lot more fun than just sitting in it and making engine noises.

I understand, the C7 seats definitely don't heat up as hot as the Yukon and other GM vehicles or at least mine don't. Hoping maybe somebody else on here that is satisfied with their heated seats can post up a temp reading. Mine satisfy me ok and my wife seems happy with the passenger seat. Sounds like yours is not working at all? Let us know if the dealer improves yours.
I've never had the heat level automatically turn itself down on any of my GM cars either. If it gets too hot, you just adjust it on your own. It was never stated in the manual that would happen automatically, so there must be something wrong with some of these. Rear window defoggers 'time out' after a while, but that's the only one I am aware of. It will be interesting to see how much is involved in a fix-whether it's a software issue or replacement of the heating element(s) which would be fairly involved. When it gets closer to taking it out of storage I'll ask my dealer about any service bulletins on this subject so he can be somewhat prepared when I bring it in. Any forum members' added information would be appreciated by many of us as well...
I have never used the heated drivers seat and I don't plan to. My wife loves it though. Every time I get into her Infiniti, it's there full blast and I turn it off. Personally, the feeling of heated seats feels weird to me, as if I'm sitting on a hotplate.
I'm in the same boat...little no no warming effect. I have two other cars (Lexus and Jag) and those seats get so hot in about 3 minutes I have to turn them off.
Agreed. Same thing in mine. Does not appear to get any warmer than luke warm at best.

It's been so long ago now that I cannot definitely state that it did, but, our 1996 Eldorado had heated seats and I think they did reduce the heat automatically. However, they would sure toast your buns and that was great, and I don't ever remember them being too hot. Our C7 seats will reduce the heat, and you can cycle them thru manually to the initial heat setting, but they still won't get anything more than mildly lukewarm.

Screwy or not I would prefer the seat to actually get warm before it cuts back or shuts off. Mine is VIN #2498.

My C5 Camaro has heated seats, the only time the heat goes down is when I turn it down, shut it off or turn off the car...
And it is a true "bun warmer".
VIN 5105 lukewarm seat heat at best. I have reset them to high while traveling and still minimal heat. This would seem to negate production date as the issue.
My dealer did the flash for the HVAC system which the claimed makes my heated seats warmer. I *think* it made a slight difference, but compared to my Infiniti SUV, these things suck. My Infiniti gets warm in 3-5 minutes. These take a good 20 and are warm at best.
Ah, say it isn't so!!! Really miss the heated seats in Ken's ex-C6. Every time we take the C5Z out (like last night) we both say "turn on the seats" And, where we live in Oregon isn't as cold as some of you guys. 50 today,but raining like he**!
Hope to get our C7 delivered this week and Sat &Sun are suppose to be sunny!! Burger run DRIVE!!!!
VIN #150 I have the same problem especially the passangers seat seems never to get warm. I also have the heating problem but the car is in storage with about 3 feet of snow outside it will be awhile before I can get in for a software update.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
