Ive done a few tail light in my time with different types of tinting and the best way that ive found is to use a cup gun and mix 1 part black and 2 parts clear coat , wet sand tail lights with 1000 grit and spray . the more coats the darker they get . i use around 2 to 3 light coats.

Oh. How big a job to remove the fascia? Really like the looks but did not want to have to take back of car apart.Originally Posted by Glen e
Yes, light stay on car when you pull the fascia....but you can paint/ tint these fine with the tail bezels removed...will probably do it next week....

I am sure they meet regulations or they will not be on the car when it rolls down the assembly line.Originally Posted by JoesC5
I just have this strange feeling that the smoked lens on the Z06 meets all regulations.

I don't think they are smoked Joe. I read somewhere that the ZO6 lens were described as colorless. I like them smocked better so I hope they look dark in person.Originally Posted by JoesC5

You can kind of see it in this pic: Pretty significant difference between this pic and the one in the post above.

Ever notice how at night it's really hard to tell when you're coming up on really old cars because their tail lights are so dim? But then you see brand new cars off in the distance really easily?
Why would you want to make your car look old and/or busted? I come up on new Camaros with tinted or blacked-out tail lights and they looked like old SUVs from far away at night.
Is it just me or are there others that feel the same way?

Include me as one to agree with your opinion, above. WTF! The lights are there for a very good reason! The car is small, the car is low .... Add rain or fog or foggy tail lights and your Vette is road kill! Just my opinion, but... Very stupid to dumb down your tail lights no matter how cool or badass they may look!
Count me out on this one unless someone runs across some halogen tail lights. ... Now THAT would be interesting!

Paul, could very well be colorless. I thought I heard someone(Tadge?) mention that they were smoked, but could be wrong on that account.Originally Posted by Paulchristian

One thing I have noticed with the photos of the Z06, is that both the red outer and the white center on the base cars, disappears with the Z06's taillights.
