I just traded my transparent top yesterday to somebody local with a matching body color roof. He also gave me some money towards the trade. While I liked the transparent top, heat in the summer was one of the things that concerned me. The other concern I had is that even in 85* weather, that top got hot enough to burn my hands when removing it. I could only imagine how hot it could have gotten in our summer heat if I left it uncovered and wanted to remove it. I would have needed a set of oven mitts! I just bought a cover that covers the roof, front, rear and side windows that would have remedied that issue in the heat of the day but I really wanted the lighter weight body color top. That said, my body color top is going in to my body shop tomorrow to get the center section painted carbon flash metallic. I plan on just leaving the outer edges white just like the visible carbon roof. It will go well with my arctic white car while giving me a cooler white edge to grab when I remove the top when it's hot out.

Yep, exactly why I went with solid top (here in Texas with 100+ degree days--no way). And my understanding is you cannot tint it.

Several companies make static clings for transparent tops, currently through C6. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they have a pattern for the C7.....
We have both, but only because we bought the car from the showroom floor and it had both. We put the transparent roof on for awhile, but decided to stay with the cyber gray metallic carbon fiber roof as we think the car looks better with it and it is lighter as well. When we order our next Corvette it will be with the carbon fiber body color, or perhaps the exposed CF option. We store it in a pouch made from old sheets and have it on a shelf in the garage where it will reside. We may occasionally use it, but it is very doubtful.
I had a transparent roof on my C6 and now on the C7 and even though it gets really hot in the summer here in FL I never found it to be a problem. You can turn on the A/C, look up and enjoy the view through the roof panel. I also had an interior shade for the C6 but never used it.
